I am sensitive to polyester, have been my whole life. The medical profession now has a name for the syndrome, although I can not remember what it is. I do know someone who is allergic to trees, so it is not out of the realm of possibilities. Bless your heart for helping out and bless her with her struggles.
Just darling,
I love doing this type of thing I have become spoilt, you can find all kinds of good things at thrift shops, I have done several .
all the prices are very low compare to new fabric I went to Joann and they want $16.00 a yard for some blended knit fabric, besides it was a very thin for knit; never the less I did not get it.
I didn't have my hopes too high when they said JoAnns was opening in our area. I find Hancock Fabrics had better prices......
You turned a sow's ear into a silk purse! Lovely. DebB
Your kindness is just amazing. I love the little dress you have made from a nightshirt.
This is just too cute! I love thrift store finds to do make-overs. You did a great job on this. Avis
You have so many good ideas and you know how to solve unusual problems. The dress is so sweet. The little girl will love to wear the dress next year in her summer. It is a cruel fate though if you only can wear 100 percent polyester instead of pure or mix cotton / wool. Thanks for sharing - Maria
I feel the same way Maria and I don't like this feel. I guess in the winter I'm too cold to wear this fabric and in the summer this fabric makes me sweat ( not perspire-lol) sweat! Thanks_Toogie
Pretty little dress. I feel for the little girl and her family. Allergies are terrible, and what you are doing for this little girl will just make things a bit more bearable.
So far most of our allergies are food and they can be deadly too, so we stay away. No fabric allergies yet, but this must me hard for the parents....like what does she sleep on?.....everything is made from fabric, towels, bedding, etc.....
What a cute little dress for that darling little girl Toogie. God bless you, she will love wearing such beautiful clothes you've made for her. Love Chris
The allergy thing seems strange to me I would have thought the child could only wear 100% Cotton as it is a natural fibre.
Polyester is man made. I just hope your lady has been given the correct information to pass on to you and the other lady doing the sewing.
Everything you have made is just so lovely and doesn't have that Charity box look.
I sure hope you get a picture either sent to you or Emailed so you get to see your work on the little girl.
Bless you.
I asked the same thing, as I thought it must be 100% cotton. So our leader contacted the workers where the little one is and they emailed back 100% polyester. Sent a photo of the label, so it would not be language mix up, as they had been given some clothes from the USA before. I don't think photos are allowed. We will just have to go by what they report back for the next year.....
