I've been so good at not buying fabric, using up my stash.

Today tiding up all the shade cloth that had been protecting our plants from the very hot summer & had been taken down by me & thrown roughly folded into the wheel barrow in the shed because it always started to rain on me every time I got a few pieces down.
I took it out ,laid it down on the retaining wall & folded it up neatly. In the shed,on a shelf there is a tin trunk that belonged to my mother in law which I thought would be a good place to put it.Opened the trunk ,took out the tray,Inside was a plastic bag with 2 full garbage bags of fabric neatly folded about 30m.I thought I had used it up
,it was bought about 25 yrs ago. Some of it will have to be washed tomorrow because there are a few yellow spots on it ,the rest is airing on the clothes line in the sun ,hopefully the musty smell will go.

I think I spend more time looking for what I want and cleaning the dust off everything. I do enjoy looking through fabric as much as I do looking at designs. For some reason I love ironing when I am stressed. I am dying some fabric today.

Good for you for using what you have first. It used o be so much easier not to be tempted. Just stay home. Now with the internet I seem to always find a sale and some yardage I feel I just have to have plus the donated material from church for our quilt projects. Sigh.......with all that I seem to spend more time organizing my stash and cleaning up "Happy Place" then being creative.

I like to see what I am buying & the post is becoming a bit unreliable & getting dearer all the time. All the fabric shops near me have shut down over the years.Only Spotlight & Lincraft are left ,20 kms away.

Well done using up your stash. This is like suprise reward for being so good. That smell will probably come out in the wash.

The sun did a good job of removing the smell & the wash removed the spots

Not sure 30m more would dent my stash. Hope that you can think of many more projects you would like to do with the material and it is able to air out or wash out without problems to the fabric. I do love happy surprises and this was one for you, for your having been so good with your commitment of using your stash first. I either need my body to allow me to sew much more or start finding homes for the amount I have, though as it is, I could not even sort through all I have without a great deal of help. Happy stitching! Pam

Now it is washed & nearly all ironed ,I think it is nearer to 50m.All of it is cotton fabrics from the 70s & 80s left over from when I made childrens clothes to sell at the markets.
We just more time for sewing.

What a great surprise for you. Congratulations on using so much of your stash and being strong and not buying more fabric. Spring is here for us and it is going to be a warm day in my bit of the UK.
