I'm a newbie to embroidery but I jumped into buying an Baby Lock Asante without asking questions. I have a MAC laptop and am finding out that it will not allow me to download any designs because it is not compatible. Can anyone tell me if there is a Application out there that I can try with my MAC to download those designs.

Hi Dear, I have a macbook pro. In the beginning i had paralell on it. I really hated it because it slowed down the processor. It was really unnerving. I took my notebook to my computerpal and he installed BOOT CAMP on it. I had to buy a 64bit version of WIN7, because it does not work with 32bit versions. The advantage is that whether I use Mac or WIN, I have the full system power available for the system I am using. My default internet browser is Firefox. I installed Google Chrome first and installed Firefox later as my default browser This way I have no problems but all options.

Hugs from Germany

You don't have to run Boot Camp on your computer. You will be making your computer susceptible to viruses from sites. Stay with the Mac programs, Embrilliance, Thumbnailer to view designs. If you are referring to a site where you can't just click download and have it easily download then try right lower corner firm click for list and select appropriate option works also.

I have a macbook pro and a Brother Innovis 4500. As others have said you can just download the design in your format which doesn't require any special program. Your macbook has a default zip app called Archive utility app which will automatically unzip your design if your double click on the file. To view your designs on your macbook go to the app store and download stitchbuddy for free. This will allow you to view your designs and even edit them, however, in order to save your edits you would need to purchase the full app. For help on how to use stitchbuddy, just search stitchbuddy on youtube. the app designer also provides information on how to use stitchbuddy for an ipad.

I use both a macbook laptop and desktop. To download is not a problem you purely download from the site where you have purchased (or freebie) in your machine's format. I use Firefox. After I have downloaded from the site I choose the Tools tab, select downloads and then select show in finder. From there I pull it to the folders where I want it stored. When you click on Zip files it automatically unzips too. I use Convert it Mac (Embrilliance package) purely as a viewer. On this you select the folder and file which you want to browse through, you can change colours and also convert it into another format. If you use an USB it would be easy to transfer to your machine. Make sure your USB has the correct folders for you machine (mine use Embf5 or Embf) attach and you pull the file you want to stitch out in the correct format to under this file. Unfortunately my machines that can be linked directly to the computer as well as the one that works with a card reader only works on windows and if you only have the mac you wlll have to split with bootcamp or a parralells and will have to load your windows operating system plus the embroidery software. From personal experience with Firmware which is like Parralels (which I found to be unstable) I choose to rather use a windows laptop when needed.

You could ask your dealer. He should be able to answer your question. Downloading should be no problem, opening can not be done on any computer without embroidery software.

Check out Embrilliance.com. for software that will work with your mac. One of the programs they have is called Thumbnailer that allows you to see your downloaded designs. Lots of youtube videos for help. Hugs. Nan W

You should be able to d/load designs onto Mac..you just don't know where the d/l'd file is or you can't see them. Embrilliance Thumbnailer is a program that lets you see images of the designs and it works with Mac. Your format is .pes, and Thumbnailer can show images of all the formats...I love it.

Welcome to Cute!
I don't have a Mac, but as long as you know where your download folder is...you should be able to send the design to your embroidery machine. You won't be able to view the design without software. I hope one of our Mac Cuties will be able to help.

Hi and Welcome to Cute...I do not have a MAC, but I know others who run a parallel Windows program on the MAC...I don't know anymore than that, but hopefully, another Cutie will come along shortly and be of more help...

You don't have to run a parallel Windows program on Mac. All you would be accomplishing is making your computer susceptible to many viruses from websites.
