Well I will add another idea for you to think about, along with all the others you have received- If you put a monogram oval with solid center but instead of the monograms, since you would not know who would be getting it, instead use the states they will be traveling through in a red work design, that the bus tour would be going through. The oval could even be the brown from the bottom which would look really sharp and doing the red work stitching of the states in the yellow I think would really pop against the brown. I do love the idea of raising the brown base color and using the brown for the zipper pull tab would help that zipper detail to pop on it's own as you barely notice it currently in the chevron. Adding pockets, is always a good thing but not sure just how much more detail you were wanting to go with! Even as the bag is currently, it will be something special that all would appreciate. I also love how you matched up your chevron design on the sides, those types of attention to detail, raises this little bag up to the higher level. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do. Pam
Thanks Pam. Are you saying stitch the state names in an applique?...I'm not sure how many that would be but not nearly the 16 we went through on the last trip!
I was thinking the outline of the state, individual patches in the state shapes would be another option, their flags, state flower, any of those kinds of details that would tie into the tour they were on. The redwork style of design would be quick to stitch and if this may be something you help with on other up coming trips then having state shapes could be used on future projects. One of the embroidery sites also has the US shape outline for free and you could just hand stitch a seed bead or star button to specific locations. You have lots of ideas of things you could choose to do any of which will be appreciated. I did like the bag you did with the monogram and think that the level for the brown was a good balance and the edge detail stitch in yellow really popped nicely. Pam
I think it is very elegant the way it is. If I did anything it would be to add a piece of the brown to the existing zipper pull and keep the fabric one also.
I almost made the zip tab with the brown. I will try that on the next one. Thanks!
I think it is just gorgeous the way it is, but do think more brown on the bottom will just make it fantastic.
I agree but went to much here. I finally played until I am pleased with the one in Projects. It looks so good with a monogram that's why I thought a one color design would look good, too. Thanks-Toogie
I think this is gorgeous. But, if you want to bring the bottom up some you could cut the side strips shorter or not and attach to the bottom with another solid strip. Then attach the bottom with a zipper Hope I am making my self clear. It would give an extra "hidden" pouch. Of course you would want to line it. I like this chevron on it own. You could also do solid tips with designed bottom. Have fun can't wait to see more.
Great bag...I like the idea of an applique or a pocket for a design...
I like the pocket idea too but if you wanted to add a design, what about a swirly type decoration that looks like a monogram? It would give a similar effect to the monogram without personalising it
Just what I was thinking, but still looking in my files for one. I didn't want anything with too much color change, as it takes more time and I have more to make. Thank you-Toogie
Toogie, I think if you did have a solid colour pocket, a design on that would be nice. The bags as they are , are great, the material is quite different if you did bring the brown up further to see more of the plain colour, maybe fancy edge trimmings on that would look nice. Just a suggestion. Sandra.
Thanks Sandra, I took your and mops advice and used my decorative stitch on my machine. (Look projects)
Love it Toogie, What about an external pocket of a solid color taken from fabric with a simple design on it.
I think if you need a design on the bag, give it a solid applique square, rectangle or circle underneath - white for example.
