Glad you all had a good time! Yummy looking food.
I gave my brother a wood wick candle one Christmas. He promptly lit it and he was still up when we all went to bed. He fell asleep in his recliner and it burned all night. Directions say (if I remember correctly) to burn it 1 to 11/2 hours at a time. Well, the next morning there was black soot on everything. He has a two story house and there was even soot on the upstairs ceiling fans! He won't be doing that again. LOL
The foods were good!
About the candle, I have had mine about 2 or 3 years now. It still smells as good as the first time I lit it. I always put any candle when it is lit, where I can see it, so I don't forget to put it out.
Looks like everyone had a good time. I would like the recipe for the kingcake. My Christmas Mardi Gras tree needs more gold ornaments on it. Next year. Thank you for sharing
If you google how to make Mardi Gras King cake some sites come up with recipes. I added a third link for you to scroll down to the video. He shows how to stuff it with filling. Ours yesterday had a strawberry & cream cheese filling. I like praline and cream cheese myself, but any are great!
Thanks that what I did. I found 2 recipes. I would like both of the 2 fillings you suggested. Thanks
great you had such a lovely time together, time for joy . good company and good food: that's a party !!!
OH way to go Toogie! What a great way to start a new group. :-)
Fun, friends and food, you can't go wrong!
No you can't!
It seems when you're on a trip together you're so busy exploring you don't get to sit and chat. That's why we wanted the party because most of us will travel together again.
What a get together, looks like it was fun..
I really enjoyed having them and hope they enjoyed coming. They seemed to and one lady is widowed. She wants me to come stay so we can play/work on quilts. She told me to see if my husband would be alright, with me coming for a week-lol
This all sounds like a heck of a lot of fun. Good food and great friends. Who would want more.
Isn't that the truth. I was so glad each one wanted to come. Even though Pearlie and I didn't get much quilt talking done. It's funny she told me to 'ask' my husband, if I could go up and spend a week with her, so we could quilt!-lol- I really didn't get to talk to her much during our eleven day trip. It was only on our way home that we found out we had likewise interest. In fact, she won one of the journals I made, (with the lighthouse remember?) and she was so appreciative she came up front to my seat on the bus and thanked me and asked for my name and address then.
Fun group with like minds and good food. Doesn't get any better!
A lovely group of women and I love the Tea pots on your window sill Toogie. Also the Wicked Wick candle, what scent does it have? So glad you could all get together and share ideas etc. over afternoon tea. Food is always a great way to break the ice. Love Chris
The candle is Caramel and smells so good. It is almost finished, but its called a Wood Wick candle, because the wick is actually wooden. As you can see, I removed my centerpiece, as the flowers were in our view, of each other talking.
It wasn't afternoon tea, as you say, but lunch. I think we had plenty deserts! We had chicken/sausage gumbo over rice, potato salad, boiled eggs, cornbread, the brownies, a fruit salad, the oatmeal/walnut/raisin cookies, chips and dip, sweet tea. One lady said now we all need a nap-lol
Fairly normal tasting cake, but decorated with Mardi Gras colors of purple and green. There's a plastic finding baked in the cake, originally I think a baby standing for Jesus, and if it shows up in your slice, it's good luck. AND, it might be a different cake on the West Coast!
You are right but also the colored sugars are gold too. Each color representing something, purple is for justice, green for faith and gold for power.
If you find the baby you have to buy the next King cake and also for good luck!
The links above explain the origin or just google the meaning of a Mardi Gras King cake.
Sounds like a great time was had and the food looks yummy. I love such occasions where everyone brings something different to eat the result is always super
It seems in this case a lot of them were thinking sweets!-lol-I made the gumbo and rice and everything else was brought by the others. Believe me these women didn't put a dent in it. ..My husband just called our grandson and his wife, and our son's family to come eat tonight, to finish it up.
Looks like a yummy good time was had by all!
I enjoyed this so much! My husband told our niece I had been cleaning for 3 days. She said nothing looked different as its always clean. I wasn't sure how to take that--all my cleaning didn't even show, oh well, I know it's clean.
