Wonderful job Mrs.Toogie. Way beyond my capabilities. And that young lady certainly knows how to pose and clearly loves the dress. Incidentally, did you find any cameras for sale at the Thrift shop?
What's with this 'Mrs.Toogie'?!/-lol- I'm Toogie, please.
When I got this dress, the camera incident hadn't happened. I've gone back only once since. When I ran in (with my cane) I left this beauty sleeping, in her car seat and her Grandpa at the wheel with that,'I'm ready to get home, so don't be long' look...never even thought about a camera............of course we don't live anywhere close to THE Goodwill they SAY they take the goods to.....I would like to see if the manager has a collection, of nice cameras, in his home........
What a great job you made of this. And a very happy little girl to boot.
I like your remake better than the original. Love the stippled top! Your model does an outstanding job of showing your lovely work.
Oh she likes to try on but won't be still for 'still shots'-lol- Do you have any ideas for another bodice? I know some of the big gowns are strapless like this one, but this style doesn't look right on a little one to me, even for play.
Not off-hand, I think the sweetheart neckline is just perfect and as I said, I love the stippling. Are you looking for a different style for the second dress?
Great job. She look gorgeous in her lovely dress. Hugs Shirley
Lovely work and one happy grand daughter with your finished super dress
It doesn't take much to make her happy, but when my son came in, I wanted her to try it on for him. She was watching cartoons and didn't want to, even though he threatened to take it home with him. She wasn't worried because he has all boys!-lol
She looks like a princess!! Nice to see little girls who still like to play dress up..she is lucky to have a grandma who is so creative.
I am thankful I learned sewing, it has come in handy a lot of times. I just love making her happy. Thanks and have a great afternoon-Toogie
granny that little face tells a story pure joy well done
Yes it does and it also does this old heart good, to see the thrill on her face. Thanks, have a nice day-Toogie
beautiful! what a great idea too recycle like this too
The original was such a tiny dress size and most people won't put a zipper in, so it made Nora a good play dress. So maybe Ava will get one or more, in the future?............lol
She looks to be ready for the ball! Look at that hand on her hip. They surely do learn young how to pose. She's adorable and what a great job you did making her a princess dress-up gown.
Oh she's a Miss Priss, alright. I like to watch her body language when she talks. The elbows are at her hips, with her palms turned up, explaining!-lol-Thanks for looking at my little Princess and her gown.
Fantastic remodeling! She will be a proper little princess!
Thank you Sue, I know you're good at re-cycling, as well. I guess she needs a crown now.......lol
Asterixsew, I intend to make a crown (somehow) with the rhinestones I ripped off the original dress, but it will be for the next blue taffeta.
A beautiful remake. She will have loads of fun wearing it. She is just adorable.
What a wonderful idea......I love the dress. Such a cutie!
Excellent reuse! Love the dress and Nora is so adorable and quite the model. I see lots of sparkle in her future!
Ah yes, she loves bling! I don't know about modeling, as it was hard to get her still long enough for these photos!-lol
How adorable Her face is just lit up with that huge smile.!! Beautiful... One happy granddaughter and a wonderful grandma... She will probable remember all the wonderful things you did for her when she grows up.
I think she will remember, her mom does. I didn't have much time for sewing, when mine were this age, but I did other things they recall. Thanks for looking and commenting on my little one.-Toogie
Wow, you sure went the extra mile for this lovely young princess and her friend! Great work, Gran!
No, just being a Gram and putting my skill to use to make them happy. Thank goodness for grandmother and mom that sews and passed the love onto me.-Toogie
What a beautiful transformation! And I can see she is excited about the beautiful dress you made for her. She must feel like real Princess now! Great job!
Hugs
Diane
Diane you should have seen her twirling around...I almost couldn't get her still long enough for photos! Thanks-Toogie
Awwww Toogie, I love it and that precious face says it all! Nothing you could do would make her any happier except making another so friend can play with her. Well done sweet and wonderful Grandmother/Lillian
Thank you Lillian. This is all the 'pay' we need, isn't it, when we make something for them. I know you've put a lot of happy faces on children all over the world and at home. Gives us a warm feeling, doesn't it.-Toogie
Adorable! What a great grandma you are, this is what makes the best memories! You can tell she loves it and is ready to play!
Yep, you got that right! I love to hear my grown kids talking, about things I did for them, when they were little. I may not be here, when Nora is grown, to hear her recalling this but I know she will remember.
Recycling at it best. You have out done yourself with this creative beauty for a little princess.
Just having a good time while bringing joy to the little one. Thanks and have a good day-Toogie
so gorgeous, lovely little princess. you did a great job !!
What a fabulous makeover and you can see Nora is so happy to have this gorgeous blue dress-up gown. Well done Toogie, you are very clever to do this. Love Chris
You can do the same thing, I know Chris, you just need a thrift store find! I'm sure your little girls like to play 'dress up' too, no matter where we all are from. Thanks and hope you have a pain-free day!-Toogie
A terrific buy Toogie, and such a wonderful job with the makeover. She will love to dress up in this often i am sure, she is a treasure and will have lots of fun play. Sandra.
It was a great buy and I intend for her and her friends to enjoy playing as much as I did. Thanks for commenting Sandra.
You have done an incredible job with this dear little dress.. Your little GD looks as pretty as a picture. She will be the envy of all her friends. Great job Toogie.
Thanks Sarah, I just want her to have the fun I did playing 'dress up', as a child.
I cannot improve on what Kay said.. this is such a beautiful story and memory. She will share with her grandchildren someday.
You did a fantastic job.
Thank you very much. She is so close to me and I to her. When she got back from 'vacation' she hugged me so tight, for so long, I thought we would both cry.
This is a wonderful grandmother story and you have a model in training. The original owner probably donated it because of the broken zipper. I once bought a designer label 2 pc suit for $10. because the skirt zipper was broken. I fixed it and wore it for many years. Kay
Isn't it great we can do that and save a bundle! I'm still on the look out, for a purple prom dress that's full enough, for her another dress/gown. She likes purple!
How absolutely precious! She will have fond memories for a lifetime of having been a princess because of your loving gift. Dream big! You made her happy! Are we too old to play dress-up with her!?
I hope not! She already likes you to put her some lip gloss and she likes jewelry, but since the necklace/swallowing episode, she hasn't been wearing any. Thanks for looking and commenting. She really is so precious.
Wonderful and she's a little charmer. I remember the fun of going to my neighbor's house and playing dress up. Her mom kept all her "past their prime" dresses and matching shoes in an upstairs closet and we could play out of that closet.
I did the same thing with my moms. My favorite shoes were her blue high heels and favorite skirt was a circle skirt. The background of the skirt was black and white, kinda streaks at an angle, with big red roses scattered throughout.
It is wonderful, Toogie...and her smile tells all..fantastic job!
Thanks Kim, I finally got her over. She'd been gone and then busy, either us or them, but it didn't take me long once I had her here. I still want to make the taffeta one and use the trim off the original dress. We will see, I have so many other projects in my head-lol
