These are some gowns I made for my new grandson to be born in a month. My daughter loves to dress them in gowns, for the first few months. The blue micro-check gingham is a B&B blueprint pattern called, A Gown For Baby. This view has pleats for the boy, instead of the gathering. The white gown is a gown from Gingercake, Newborn Baby Onesie free, off the net. The pattern was very good, but my knit fabric wasn't. It was too stretchy and thin and I shouldn't have used Kam Snaps. Too big for a newborn and with the stretch of the tee knit fabric, they are too hard to snap and un-snap, with a baby inside!-lol-I'm sorry that the photos are taken from the side but I still am non-weight bearing. Hope you like them and all of you are well. Have a great weekend-Toogie

WOW Toogie, these are just a work of art. I just love babies in nighties. Not a lover of baby grows. I made nighties for my girls when they were first born. When I made one for my first grandchild (Joshua) my daughter thought I was crazy.

Are your nighties like our sleepers? We call the all-in-one, with long sleeves and long legs with feet enclosed, sleepers.
My daughter would have me chained to the machine to make clothes for her kids-lol- no joke, she does like them.
I need to make her girls a smocked dress, I guess. Nora doesn't really 'need' any, as she has all of Avery's and they still look new. Avery will soon be too old even for the bishops, so I really do need to make hers. It takes a lot more yardage now, she is getting so tall.

I too love the micro gingham with the pleats and piping. You did a wonderful job and is sure to be a favorite. Very sharp looking, but still looks soft and cuddly. This looks better than many of the baby gowns you find in the high end baby boutique shops, great job! Best wishes for a smooth delivery for momma and baby.

Thank you, I too hope all goes well for them. I had just enough micro check to make this...very tiny scraps left. The heirloom shop I shopped at locally, closed down. I think the lady had health problems, so I have had this micro fabric a while, waiting for the right project.

LOVE these! I just love babies in these...remind me of Popeye's nephew Sweet Pea! And, yes, they are tons easier to chg. a baby wearing one of these. You did a great job. Be sure & post a pic. of him all snuggled in one!

It DOES remind you of Sweet Peas, doesn't it. I have a cute photo of one of the grandsons, must have been the pulling up stage, still wearing a gown like the white. I think he wore his the whole first year.

Thank you very much but I haven't made baby clothes in quite a while, I'm out of practice. I used to keep things made up ahead of time, not so lately, and baby items are one of my favorite things to sew (besides purses)-lol can you have more than one favorite?-lol- I'm afraid if I don't smock something soon, I'll forget how.

You have done a grand job. Your piping is so neat and turned at facing edge. I am expressing the same sentiments as someone else---I love seeing babies in baby clothing--gowns and such. Other clothes look so stiff and make them look like little adults. So glad my granddaughter likes to dress my little great G daughter in vintage style stuff. I love all the little gowns, baby cover-alls etc.

I think some of the clothes out there for babies may look cute, but uncomfortable, while others are not cute at all for babies.
I pull my cording out, catching it at the side of the yoke, just to the fold edge. That way it's not doubled at the fold and lies down better.
Thanks for looking!

Thanks Michelle, I'm sure they will too. She has some I made before for the other children but I just had to make a new one or two.

Wow! Toogie these little dresses are just beautiful. I particularly like the blue gingham one and look how neatly you have placed the piped edge on the bodice!!!! Your sewing skills are excellent and I know you can't wait to hold your new grand-son. I'm so glad that your daughter dresses babies in babies clothes. I hate seeing babies in jeans and t-shirts etc.!!!! Love Chris

I hate the clothing for babies that make them look like rock stars or such, too or older people as Linda said.

I had to laugh now about the piping. You should have seen me trying to reach my cording. I was using my kitchen tongs, standing on one foot, trying to reach it out of an open container, in the corner stacked on top of other containers. There was a love seat and my ironing press in between me and cording container, so I was really stretching!

I feel the same way Linda and I'm glad my daughter does too. They have plenty of time to 'dress like adults'. Babies are only little, for a little while.

Thank you Jerrilyn, I don't seem to be excited as I should be (shame on me) and not sure why. I have a friend expecting a grandson at the same time and she has made a huge wardrobe, but it is her first!
I have been concerned about Avery's care while they are in hospital. I still can't handle her and no one will keep her other than us and other g-parents. My daughter said they have made arrangements, for one of the sister-in-laws, to keep her this time. She should be fine.

Yes, newborns are so sweet and fragile looking, you want to dress them in delicate looking clothing.
