If I followed this advice my machines would be covered with dust and cobwebs. Nor could I sew in my pajamas.

Does anyone know what the French chalk is that you should use to dust your fingers? I must be doing something wrong because I never dust my fingers while I sew.

I guess one could collect the dust off the window sill. LOL

AKA dressmakers chalk... But I don't know why one would use it on fingers during sewing.

Aunt Annie, I have plenty of dust but it isn't French, just plain old American variety.

I think it was used to absorb the moisture and oil in your hands. You can remove some oil stains with chalk.

love it, do you think it was written by a male of female? I am glad we have seen the light and are enjoying our machines and our lives. If our homes are protected by a layer of dust so be it. Remember that housework makes you ugly.

I do like this advice, BUT i would never do any embroidery. I love to relax especially at night in my pj's doing odd jobs i did not have time to finish during the day . IN MY ROOM. undisturbed. Washing is a must, not always the kitchen, when I am creating and trying new ideas. Always wanting to see new stitch outs take shape. This is our pleasure time after all. Sandra.

This is great advice!
Only I would never get any sewing done.
If I am planning a busy sewing session I do try and put a load of washing on before I start so I can feel extra productive while I am sewing! Sometimes I even put something to cook in my slow cooker and then I don't need to worry when everyone comes asking what's for dinner! and Thank goodness for a dishwasher!

Oh! My! the perfect house wife. Sounds like the lady that always prepared an extra serving in case her husband brought the boss home. My Mother always saved the hand sewing for night so she could watch TV with the family. Does any one remember watching The Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday evenings. I remember the first time Elvis was on. This was in the 1950's. Kay

If I walked around the house all powdered and pressed looking like that my retired husband would think I was up to no good ..."she is off to the fabric shop again" . I don't do dishes since he retired , I cook meals he does dishes , I think I got the best end of the bargain . I wonder what the old instruction for a Bernina were , Just sew lots and enjoy yourself .

Being that Bernina is a Swiss company, we may chuckle sure enough. Kay

If I followed these "rules" I could never sew or embroidery again! If I wore makeup and lipstick, I fear my project would also. LOL

Some changes are good, very good! I don't know whether to be pleased or saddened that I couldn't care less if there are dirty dishes or dust. Keep on stitching!

Everything looks better with cat hair on it! The dust bunnies fight with the cat hair and eventually I suck them up with the vacuum. Kay

haha my cat is teaching me all about accepting cat hair in my sewing room! Our other pets have never bothered being in the sewing room, but for some reason our 1 year old cat just loves being in there. Cat hair sticks to almost everything!
