3 down 2 to go. Shirts for my cousin in the UK. I can virtually make these in my sleep now. If only I could buy better material. The two on the left are poly cotton. The pale blue stripe one is a beautiful cotton which I managed to find but it is full of faults, luckily I bought plenty of material but wasted at least a meter.

Second picture shows detail at back - he likes to have the little loop between the yolk and body of shirt

I second it--very professional and I know they are better--not assembly line sewn.

Second thought. Monogram them between the pocket and placket. I noticed my cousin had his monograms in this location. He has always been one up on the fashion savvy. Kay

airyfairy by airyfairy 07 Feb 2016

Kay, on his last batch I made I did a monogram on the pocket corner - he did not like it at all. When I make my husbands shirts I always put a tiny car or something on the pocket.

Sarah, your shirt making is so professional, all you need is one more thing...an Airyfairy tag!...I edited to say how I like that you matched your stripes on the pocket. One thing I was taught, to match plaids and stripes...then you see bought clothes (factory made) that aren't matched! oh..h...

Thank you Toogie. I do have "Airyfairy" labels but my cousin tells me they are a little itchy!!!!! It was this cousin who gave me the name Airyfairy when we were children.
I also get furious when stripes and pleads do not match up.
I was cross with myself for not matching the sleeves to the yolk better but I was so short of material.

toogie by toogie 03 Feb 2016

The sleeve won't be as noticeable as the pocket. I think you have done an excellent job. Pity that the label sticks or itches him. I have a grandson that is like that...I wonder if you could sew it on the placket front, down toward the bottom. You may would have to sew it 'A' toward the neck and end with 'y' toward the hem....just a thought.

toogie by toogie 03 Feb 2016

Ps I have seen labels there on bought shirts before.

airyfairy by airyfairy 07 Feb 2016

Sewing the label on the placket front is a great idea. Have to do that next time as I have nearly finished shirt #5.

Some of the fabrics here are so thin, one can see through the fabric easily.

Ours our pretty thin and shiny too. I think they come from China and are full of flaws.

Fantastic job, due you find the 2 pc collar hard to due or do you have a trick? What pattern is this one?

airyfairy by airyfairy 02 Feb 2016

It is a McCall's pattern. Number 4079. It is supposed to be a 3 hour shirt. I am quick but each shirt takes me about 2 days. I have made my husbands shirts for years so collars are no problem. Like everything else it is practice.
