I second it--very professional and I know they are better--not assembly line sewn.
Wow, these are so well-done. You have a great talent, and I can tell that you enjoy your sewing. Your cousin will love these.
Wonderful job! These are most professional! Kay
Second thought. Monogram them between the pocket and placket. I noticed my cousin had his monograms in this location. He has always been one up on the fashion savvy. Kay
Kay, on his last batch I made I did a monogram on the pocket corner - he did not like it at all. When I make my husbands shirts I always put a tiny car or something on the pocket.
Wow, you do great sewing these shirts for your cousin. How lucky is this guy and you for having such love in the family.. Don't think I can ever try sewing a shirt for my husband.
Lovely shirts and beautifully sewn, they will be really appreciated by your cousin.
Sarah, these are beautiful shirts, they look professionally made. He shall be very excited to receive such wonderfully made shirts. Sandra.
Sarah, your shirt making is so professional, all you need is one more thing...an Airyfairy tag!...I edited to say how I like that you matched your stripes on the pocket. One thing I was taught, to match plaids and stripes...then you see bought clothes (factory made) that aren't matched! oh..h...
Thank you Toogie. I do have "Airyfairy" labels but my cousin tells me they are a little itchy!!!!! It was this cousin who gave me the name Airyfairy when we were children.
I also get furious when stripes and pleads do not match up.
I was cross with myself for not matching the sleeves to the yolk better but I was so short of material.
The sleeve won't be as noticeable as the pocket. I think you have done an excellent job. Pity that the label sticks or itches him. I have a grandson that is like that...I wonder if you could sew it on the placket front, down toward the bottom. You may would have to sew it 'A' toward the neck and end with 'y' toward the hem....just a thought.
Sewing the label on the placket front is a great idea. Have to do that next time as I have nearly finished shirt #5.
These are all great, but I particularly like the second picture of the soft blue striped one. Well done, they all look like store bought ones! Love Chris
PS - I SENT YOU A PM A FEW DAYS AGO!!!!
I am sorry Chris. Did get it gut have Ben taking advantage of the cooler weather to sew.
Lucky guy, getting professionally made shirts.
Oh, my, Sarah - this look perfectly professional! Well done - I bet your cousin is so pleased!!! Great talent! Hugs, Laura*
He has only seen the materials which I took pictures of in the shop. He will only see the finished shirts when I hand them over personally. Thank you for your post Laura
Great work. You have a very lucky cousin. I am sure he will be very pleased.
Fantastic job, due you find the 2 pc collar hard to due or do you have a trick? What pattern is this one?
It is a McCall's pattern. Number 4079. It is supposed to be a 3 hour shirt. I am quick but each shirt takes me about 2 days. I have made my husbands shirts for years so collars are no problem. Like everything else it is practice.
Lovingly done and beautifully made. I can't solve the quality fabric thing either.
These shirts are beautiful! Your cousin is very lucky and I do understand about your wish to buy better material...here in Virginia its getting hard to find quality fabrics at the fabric stores..have you looked at fabric.com or G street fabrics to do mailorder? Best wishes. Pat
Living in South Africa it has got very hard on the purse as our Rand has taken a nose dive. I am not even buying embroidery designs any more :(
