afternoon all

I thought before I post on any yahoo groups I would ask this question here as there are so many talented & "in the know" people on this group. Is there such a thing as self adhesive clear vinyl??? I know there is an iron on 1 but it's so expensive here for what you get & the rate of exchange makes it hard to buy O/S.
TIA

Hi Irene, haven't seen any advertised on our Aussie sites or in stores, but will keep lookout for you. Marian

Thanks Marian. Am thinking of using this for mug rugs so they don't get stained. Too much work in some of them to get ruined in the wash

There is "contact" paper that comes in rolls. Even though it is called "contact paper", it is a vinyl with an adhesive back, it comes in patterns and also in a clear version. This is readily available in the discount stores. The paper carrier it is on is handy because it has a printed grid for easily determining how much to cut, and makes it much easier to cut it straight.

Besides that, there is another vinyl product that comes in rolls as well, but it does not have an adhesive back but instead clings by static electricity. I love that product for putting on glass. It makes the glass opaque, offering privacy, yet allowing light to come through. It is great for the sidelights on front doors. This vinyl comes in patterns as well - some look etched with snowflakes, swirls, etc. I have seen it at some JoAnn's and some online stores. One of the good things about this product is that it is easy to apply and reposition as you are working with it, and you do not have to deal with a gummy residue (like that left by contact paper) should you wish to remove it at some later date. I do not know if this product is available in a completely clear (see-thru) version.
Hope this helps.
