Hubs & I took my machine off yesterday to get a second opinion & this is an update. I learned that if my machine was in need of repair because I have had it serviced by an UNCERTIFIED JANOME TECH it would NOT be covered under warranty @ all. I was under the impression that my "guy" was certified but they know & have dealt with him in the past & the present so NO he is not a certified tech. I was quite shocked to discover this & then of course I felt stupid for not knowing. It took hubs quite a bit of time to convince me to even take it to another city fortunately for me I am glad he did otherwise I would not have known this.

In the end my machine has a factory defect to do with the timing sensor & the "wick" under the bobbin case is defective so they will give me a new one. Unfortunately they did not have a new Janome 12000 in stock so I must wait until today for more news on what & when they can get me a replacement machine.
@least I know it is the machine & not me & I have to say I was beginning to believe that I didn't know what I was doing so I am more then relieved to know that it is the machine & not me. I was actually afraid to sit there & stitch something for fear I might break it. Now I have a renewed desire to stitch anything @ all lol

Thank you all for your support & wisdom. I now have a Janome 15000 & I am thrilled with everything: the service @ the new store (existing store but out of town) the friendly staff, the instructional phone calls, the updates the trade in & price & best of all I am thrilled with this new quiet machine that does all that the 12000 did & more. In life it's all about the little things & this machine makes my life happier & in turn I play it forward with all that I sew. Just like most of us here we give away what we sew so that makes others happy too.~hugs ~

It amazes me that I used this machine for about 3 years & to find out now that all the issues could have been avoided the 1st time I took it in just boggles my mind..........Thank you Susie & yes the new machine is a dream come true so quiet & a bell even rings to let me know of a thread change so I am singing a new song lol

I am so excited for you that this nightmare has become a huge blessing instead. It says a lot for Janome. I think you are going to love your new machine. With the memory issues I would check out some of the videos from Janome and any on U tube for how to work with the machine and then once you know a couple of the basics, then practice those on the Christmas projects you want to complete. An ipad is pretty straight forward with how to do basic functions and I know they will have a help course through Janome, to help walk you through the learning of a new machine. I am about ready to tackle a problem with Hus and hope they are a fraction as helpful as what Janome has been with you. So happy and relieved for you. Now if we do not hear from you for a day or two we will all know you are off setting up and playing in your sewing room, Have Fun and enjoy! Merry Christmas a bit early!

Lucky you! The 15000 is a beast!
The 12000 is (or is very soon to be) discontinued. A new 14000 is awaited here in UK but is probably already available on your side of the pond.

pldc by pldc 24 Nov 2015

yes they did mention this to us about the 12000 being discontinued so I wasn't sure what would happen. The 14000 is listed but I have not seen one. I am anxiously waiting for it to arrive today ......do you like the 15000 & if so what do you like the best about it?

spendlove by spendlove 24 Nov 2015

Mostly the big hoops, but I think they are the same as on your 12000. I don't have an I-pad and I can't use the wireless connection without buying a booster gadget.

pldc by pldc 24 Nov 2015

I have no idea what a booster gadget is but thats ok you do & that's what counts lol. I'm sure either way your software program suits you just as well as this ipad does. Not sure how much use mine will get sewing related but only time will tell. I do love the large hoops that came with the 12000 so I am going to have fun with it

spendlove by spendlove 25 Nov 2015

The gadget boosts your home wifi so it can be picked up in more rooms. My house has thick walls and the sewing machine seems to need a stronger signal than my tablet or laptop.

I stopped dealing with our local store because of the issues with the brand new 11000 & the price gouging when replaced with the 12000. I guess travelling further away will be a blessing in disguise. Thanks Kay ~hugs~

So happy you are getting a new machine. It isn't always easy to know who is certified on your machine model. I took my 300E for a service at a shop selling Janome and they said yes they service that model but messed up the tension something bad. Took me ages to get it back to where it should be.
Now you have found a good Tech stay with him even if it means a bit of a distance to drive.
What we do is plan an outing and do more than one thing if we have to go a distance.

Great news to know it was not you but the machine. We take it for granted that shop we buy from is certified to repair the machine that we buy. It is a lesson for us all to be sure to check when buying a machine. I am so HAPPY that they are replacing it for you, and with the 15000 to boot. Hope it arrives soon and you are able to get back to doing what you enjoy SEWING & EMBROIDERING. Hugs Shirley

I know only to well what you mean about Technician my son sees it all the time ,he is a Bernina Tech and had to sign papers 28 years ago to say he would do 4 years of training before they would certify him as quantified, now 28 years later ,now Bernina ask him his opinion on sewing machine , and I am so lucky he comes and fixes my machine anytime I ask ....of course it usually cost me roast dinner and a hug or two but I don't mind .

Sorry to hear bout this problem with your machine.... but happy to her they are going to replace it... we spend a small fortune on these machines and it is a shame when we have to have these sort of problems with them... sometimes i think dealers and manfacturing think our money grows on trees..

pldc by pldc 23 Nov 2015

yes we sure do, what a scary thought for them to have. It should be a one time expense ( or more if we choose to get another) not a buy & replace game sigh......I have an update to share

Had to replace my embroidery machine after taking it into shop 4 times for what was thought to be timing issues. The needle would hit the bobbin case and break needles and make horrible sounds. Turned out I simply had worn it out. Purchased an identical new one but was, likewise, afraid to use it for fear it would break and do those things again. Took about a month but have my confidence back and all going well. Sure it will be the same for you.

Wow, Lor...unbelievable that your "guy" is not certified to work on Janome machines...however I am not really surprised that there is a problem with your machine...I started with a Janome 11000SE about seven years ago...it was a total Lemon...It had been back to Janome USA 4 times in three months...they replaced the machine...same problem...back to Janome 2 more times with the replacement machine, and they gave me another new one...same problem...back to Janome 2 more times with the third machine...finally they refunded my money...that's when I swore off Janome and got the Baby Lock Ellisimo...best thing that could have happened!!! Whatever was wrong with the 11000SE had something to do with a computer board (I think) but Janome would never admit there was a problem with these machines...bad batch I guess...my girlfriend had the same issue and she got a refund too...good luck....

My Elissimo had to go back to Baby Lock too, after the certified repair man could not fix it after 3 tries. I love the machine though

Kim & Angie I am sorry that you both had problems with your machines sigh............they should all be sew & go but life is not like that & occasionally we have to deal with unexpected situations & all we can is our best! Sounds like you both did yours too so I am happy that you both were able to get it sorted. ~hugs to you both~

Interesting news. It is a good thing that your husband was persistent in getting you to take your machine for a second opinion. But and a big but that the repair man you have used is not certified to work on Janome embroidery machines. I know that where I go is a registered Brother centre as I have seen the certificates on the wall (a bit like the dentists in the UK) It also shows that when we use our machines a lot that we know when something is wrong. Right dear fingers crossed for a brilliant outcome for you I know that you will keep us posted on
what happens. A flower to your husband for his efforts in making you get the problems sorted
