I have a 2140 Pfaff embroidery machine. In less than 4 years, it has blown 2 circuit boards. These run around $600. to replace. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Thanks,

AS OTHERS SAID...SURGE PROTECTOR. BUT I HAVE ONE I GOT AT THE COMPUTER STORE THAT HAS A BATTERY BACK UP & IT'S WORKED GREAT..EXCEPT IT BEEPS FOR AN HOUR IF THE POWER GOES OUT. BUT YOU CAN FINISH A PROJECT OR EMBROIDERY IF YOU LOSE POWER

I have a 2170 and the circuit board has been replaced twice too. Luckily, it was done under warranty the two times. Since I started using a surge protector I hadn't had any problem with my machine...

Good luck.

Are you using a surge protector and do you unplug it in between uses. A surge protector is critical for any machine with a computer in it. Fluctuations in electric power and hits during this time of year can cause all kinds of things to happen.

I have the Pfaff 2144 and no problems...do you have your machine connected with a "surge Protector"? I also set my machine on an "anti static" pad....we are full time travelers and each camping resort has a different electrical set up...haven't blown anything yet...Hope this helps....Lorna

Excellent advice with the 'anti-static' pad, even for non-travelers. Flower for you!

I see you have profile over a year, but don't visit. Welcome back, hairnet. I wish I could help you, but I know nothing about a pfaff embroidery machine. There are so many of us on this web site and all different kinds of machines that I feel sure some one will offer advise. Was any of your circuit board problems covered under warranty? Most bad and serious problems happen after warranty expires. Did your dealer offer any suggestions? I remember my dealer told me not to even plug in my machine without a serge protector. If you don't use one. it is a must.
