I did this quilt in the early 90's, I taught myself to do all kinds of quilts methods , applique and stripped piecing etc, I now teach at our Senior Center one day a week.
You did a fabulous job on this. Must have taken awhile to do all the hand stitching. But it is well worth your efforts. Really nicely done.
YOU did a great job, love it! I have made quilts for 50 years and would never try grandmothers flower garden it would take me to long, .
Even with my sewing machine making this kind of quilt is quite a job. So it is double awesome for you having this all done by hand. It should become a family heirloom. Gorgeous, gorgeous.
Congratulations for finishing your beautiful quilt. This was a huge undertaking for a first quilt too! Such a sense of accomplishment when you first get all your material cut and organized into their piles ready to go, then when the top is completed and the overwhelming joy and fulfillment when you have finished quilting the top the way you had envisioned and have placed in on your bed, and then every night thereafter as you snuggle under that quilt. It is also the feeling I hope everyone I ever made a quilt for, will also feel and think about. The sheer hours and immense love that I put into each of the quilts that I had made for them. You just feel the love that goes into every stitch of a handmade quilt. Your quilt is beautiful, and is sure to be treasured heirloom.
It is beautiful. I hope you make many more quits. This is a wonderful beginning
Totally Awesome! Lots of hard work, & it shows!! Thanks for sharing with us. Hugs & Flowers, Tammy
Oh, my goodness! This is spectacular. Yours is so beautiful! Did you make the edges even? I'm having trouble telling. Isn't feeling the fabric in your hands just the most satisfying thing?
I've started Grandmother's flower Garden many years ago and have quite a collection of squares, but have not put it together yet. It's a "one of these days" thing.
