Sad and glad.....

my medium son left this week to go to the UK for three years to achieve a PHD - degree in Durham university.
Well, it is not too far away from Germany and also not too far away from Lincoln area where my long year girl friend and some very sweet cuties live and work.
So I am glad and grateful for this circumstance which will give me more reason to travel to my beloved England now and then.
I am proud of my son; prior to his departure he took a crash course supervised by me - Mama - to bake an excellent Irish soda bread and make vegetarian spread.
He also learned how to iron shirts perfectly. He thinks he will need these skills too :-)

You have all the reason to be proud of you beaming son. You must be one of the few Germans I know who has a big family, what fun. It is so nice to see such handsome young man asking advice from their mom. Congratulations !!!

Congratulations on the young one's achievements. Every son should have the basic housekeeping fundamental. Lovely looking bread by the way.

You are a lucky mom. He's both handsome, industrious, smart and talented. His mother taught him well and gave him some good genes also. Plus, he's supplying you with an excuse to visit England- Bonus!

You have been blessed, a bright handsome son who seeks to get his Phd. He won't be so far away that you can't see him once in a while and that is wonderful/Lillian

Middle child?

ansalu by ansalu 30 Oct 2015

It's the middle son. She has 3 daughters (the big one has 3 kids and her twins) and 2 or 3 sons (sorry not sure about that - I only have 2 kids). That's why her nickname here is grossfamilie = big family :o)

Thank you ! Bettina is right - he is the middle son. Sorry I mixed that up - and she is also right. I have 3 sons and 3 daughters and the eldest daughter has three sons :-)

What a clever young man, handsome, can cook and iron! Well he has my vote! I hope he has a wonderful time in England achieving his PHD and I'm sure if he will pass with flying colours. I'm so glad you can just hop on over the English channel to visit him and your friends too. Travel these days is so easy! Love and blessings Chris

Handsome young man. I'm sure he will find some help if he needs it ;o) So glad for you Maria that you have now the opportunity to travel to England sometimes. Was there just once in my life 30 years ago but who knows what's next year. He can make a big impression on some of the girls there with his baking skills :-)
Greetings, Bettina

Thank you so much, dear Bettina. He may be handsome but is so shy! But perhaps the baking skills will do the trick some day :-) Greetings - Maria
By the way: I regularly visit my girl friend in UK but now I have one more reason to travel

Good looking, smart, irons his own shirts and cooks. Would he like to contact my stepdaughter, working on her doctorate in Scotland and teaching in England? (Just kidding.) I know you're proud of his accomplishments.

Great suggestion :-) But because he is so shy we have to do it the other way around. Your step daughter contacting my son... How about you and me invite them both into a romantic castle in Scotland and meet there too :-)
Have a nice week - Maria

Wow! That all is so cool! Your son is so handsome! I think he picked some pretty useful skills, as he must eat and look good for the ladies, I'm sure!

Such a handsome son, Maria! I know you are very proud of him, and the plans he has for his life! Giving him a lesson in baking and making a few of mother's goodies will help alleviate some of his being homesick, when he has a taste for "home"! It is a sad, but glad, when our kids leave the "nest"! You've prepared him well for the venture, I am sure!
Hugs, Angel
