I need to reach out for prayers for our family. Our son and daughter-in-law are in the process of adopting a baby. They have him right now and they simply adore and love him, but the birth mom has the next 40 days to take him back, if she chooses. I don't want to minimize her difficult decision but please keep us in your prayers that they may be able to keep this precious little one. They will be devastated if they have to give him back. Forty days is a very long time. Thanks and hugs to all, Laura

Sending prayers for all concerned. I do hope it all works out in favor of your son and daughter in law. Hopefully the young mother will realize that they will give this child a loving stable home and leave the baby with them. Hugs, Mary

It turns out every state is different - some are only a 72 hours wait - others are a week wait. But, 40 days wait seems so difficult. Please know that our hearts do go out to the young birth mother!! They plan to stay in touch with her for as long as she wants to. Hope that makes sense!

Open adoption is the best for all concerned. Lets the child know it is loved and not abandoned. Lets the adoptive parents know that their child was loved and no worry about child "running off" to find their 'real' family when they become an adult. Lets the birth mother know her child is well cared for and she did a good thing.
Prayers for all concerned.
40 days is a good time frame, gives the birth mother time to change her mind half a dozen times before the final day. Just a worrying one for your family.
