Hi Cutes, I thought I would show you some Baby Face Washers that I have placed a Embroidered Felt piece onto. They are from the Built in Embroidered Designs from my Janome 300e Embroidery Machine.

I embroidered on the Felt Piece first, then Ironed some Vliesofix Bonding Web to the back of the Felt.
I then decided on a shape that suited the design the best and cut the Embroidered felt to that shape.
Lastly I Ironed them onto each Flannel and Machine Stitched a Blanket Stitch around the shapes.

Thankyou for looking.

A nice variety of designs. Thanks for describing the technique. I think it could be used in other projects too.

Hi pldc, Thankyou. I did a wash test and the Acrylic favoured very well, but the Viscoe/Wool went a little limp.

Very nice...you must be able to get felt that is washable...I don't think I have ever seen any...

Hi dragonflyer, I did a web search for Chris/pennifold, and felt can be washed on a gentle cycle, but can loose a little colour and run the risk of it distorting.
But as you can see I have applied a small piece to a flannel, which should help with the above concerns. I also used an Acrylic Felt, which when tested in the wash, favoured very well.

Very Nice-never tried felt on a towel or wash cloth.

Hi peafarm, Thankyou. I think as long as you use a small piece of felt and apply it well, as I have done, you should not have know problems.

I'm thinking she gets a quality felt there. I wouldn't use the felt available here!

lolly3 by lolly3 23 Oct 2015

Hi airyfairy and graceandham, Thankyou for yours comments.
I have used an Acrylic Felt with a lot of body (stiffness) to it. I have also washed both the Acrylic and a Viscose/wool out, finding that the Acrylic favours very well, but the Viscose/Wool goes a little limp. But as I wrote on pennifolds page, the felt is Embroidered, fused and stitched onto a Flannel. All these factors should help in keeping this little applique in one piece.

Wow, that is such a great idea, and beautifully stitched out. I can't help but wonder how the felt will wear. Job well done.

They are beautiful, but what will happen to the felt when it gets wet? I'm always a bit wary of felt when wet. Love Chris

Hi Chris, Thankyou.
I have done a little research on washing felt for you, and you can wash Felt on a gentle cycle in the washing machine. I believe this is the Felt Material only and not applied to a backing fabric as I have done. I believe these flannels will wash rather well.
I used Acrylic Felt for these flannels and with the Embroidery, Vliesofix and Blanket Stitch should favour quiet well.
Thankyou for your concern though and a valid point.
Love Lorraine
