In October, my cousin from the UK is visiting Australia. Exciting for me as we've not met, but are 'pen friends'. I want to make her a little something to take back home. What should I make? Perhaps a Christmas wall-hanging? help please xx

I think those Christmas in Aussie designs are so cute with Santa relaxing at the beach, etc. You could put them on tea towels or guest towels for the bath. Kay

You make what feels right to you. You have been given lots of ideas so I'm sure there is something that strikes your fancy. I have found that people love to see my machines working so she might enjoy making something with you. Relax and enjoy your time together. You know each other through all those letters so enjoy your time. It will go so very fast.

unfortunately, I will have to go to Adelaide to see my cousin. It is too far for her to visit me where I live [some 700km road trip- but I am going to fly]

Handtowels, teatowels, face washers quite a number of small items light weight for her to carry back home. You could embroider these with aussie flowers, animals, birds, butterflies, there is some great free designs available. In the past i have made aprons, pillowslips, shopping bags, placemats. Just to name a few ideas, the possibilities is endless. Good luck enjoy her visit with you. Sandra.

Relax you still have a week or so left. If you haven't already decided why not a cushion cover with either native birds or flowers on it, it won't take to much room in her suitcase and it's useful or maybe a table runner. Marian

Something Aussie for sure! It will be so much fun for you and the item whatever it may be will bring back all those great memories. I have a purse/bag that Christie brought for me and it is with me whenever I leave the house! I love it!

It is like that, isn't it. I have a tiny purse with great memories from an Aunt who visited Guam years ago.

Oh what tremendous fun for you both. Bet she's as excited as your are. She will love anything you make, maybe a embroidered picture frame and place a picture of the two of you in it for her to take home. Or a Australian wall hanging with 'My Australian Adventure and a picture of you two. A pillow cover with the beautiful flowers you have down under. The possibilities are endless. hugs

Yes, we are both looking forward to meeting. I am really keen to hear her Northern accent, amongst other more obvious things!

I would do something Australian. I am sure she will want to buy some souveniers and will find it almost impossible to get anything actually made in Australia. They all come from China these days. What ever you make I am sure she will love it. Just pick something you feel comfortable with. Enjoy your visitor.

You can make her anything that you like. She will be delighted that you cared enough to take the time to make her something special. I can tell you are nervous about it, so make something you are already good at.
