29th July,

Last week on the way to the shopping center ,driving down a street I noticed a large Magnolia in flower in someones front yard.Yesterday going down the same street I saw another one in a different yard & in other yards had large deciduous trees which still haven't lost their coloured leaves. It is winter here & we are the coldest one this century.
We have freesias & rock lillies bud (Australian hard cane dendrobium orchids).Plants don't know when they show be flowering.

Magnolias and Jacarandas are governed by who knows what. I have noticed that the Magnolias flower at the oddest times and recently noticed the same with the Jacarandas.
Will have to keep a look out when I am driving on Saturday.
The weeds are doing well in my vegie garden but the cold has stalled my lettuce and almost killed my basil.
The azaleas are doing well and I must remember to pick the one yellow rose in the front garden tonight.....
The camellia with the large white single flowers has finally stopped dropping on the front lawn. Looked like we had large fried eggs all over the place for a while there. :-)

Saw a huge Magnolia tree in full flower while driving last Saturday.
Saw some lovely Jonquils at a friend's place yesterday. Spring is coming.

our wild peaches are already turning colour from green. I think I saw one yesterday which was almost red. They are not normally ready for picking until October, but will be very early this year.

Good morning Judy, I'm sitting in my sewing room looking out at Purple Orchids, Snow drops, Erlicheer Jonquils (which smell divine!), White Primulas, Nemesia, Pansies and Marigolds! All my garden is Purple, white, blue and yellow! So the colours are just gorgeous. I forgot quite a few Purple Status in bloom too! I can't wait for Spring come the 1st September! I love all your garden flowers and remember your back area well. Love Chris

Lovely flowers ,hope the rain stays away so you can continue to enjoy them.
Blue bells ,daffodils are up but not in bud.The lavender has been in flower all year, was hoping to dry some. The weeds are thriving ,smoothing everything.Filled the garbage bin for this week & there seems to be just as much still in the garden

Nature is smiling, arrayed in all of God's beauty. Amazing sight, I'm sure especially during winter.

Maybe the magnolia is from America and confused by your calendar? Delightful to see a little bloom in winter and remember the rest of the gardening year. My roses once bloomed all the way into Christmas week in American South and I was so thrilled.

Our magnolias have only small buds at the moment but the purple one, tries to keep flowering until Christmas ,sometimes into the next year ,even though the temperatures are in the high 30'sC& it is covered in green leaves.

Isn't nature grand, just when you think everything is Grey and Dismal a little beauty shines through.
