Toogie hope your feeling much better.Must be time for Doctors to pay there insurance premiums.Mine keep finding thing too. This kitchen is to die for. So nice and big. Looks lovely. What a job you have done canning. I haven't done that in a couple years. Miss the goodies but not the mess. You take care we will see you soon I hope.
thanks for your update - hope your docs find something that can be easily treated and that you are feeling much brighter very soon.
Toogie I hope you are feeling better. This makes me tired just looking at it. What a great job. My kids want me to make blackberry jam every year which I did. I can not imagine doing that while not feeling good. Hats off to you
Ah, thanks. What we did miss this year was blackberries. I do like to make blackberry dumpling pie...I mean eat it!-lol
I , too have had some sort of stomach bug which has keep me in the bathroom for days. I told my sweetie "At least I am not vomiting". It is hard to stay positive. I not longer put up vegetables using a water bath canning system. I even gave most of my jars away. I could not longer lift the weight off the stove in making pickles. However I kept a few jars as I found a bread and butter refrigerator pickle recipe.that does not have to be processed. I admire you pulling this off not feeling well. Can't wait to see more photos of your daughter's home. The children are all in big homes now. Where my daughter lives the neighborhood homes are big into luxury basements. When my son- in -law saw the basement he wanted the house. Good thing my daughter loved the rest of the house.
lol-good thing indeed!-Don't know when I'll be able to get those photos but I would like you to see too. I'm so glad for them. They really needed this space...No one has brought or offered any more veggies so their gardens may be over or scarce. That's fine with me right now. I would put them up if needed too, before I'd let it ruin though.
Wowzer on the kitchen! I could do some cooking there! I did not do pickles this year, as I still have some, and it wasn't my best batch. I have been experimenting with sweet peppers! I hope you feel better and have a great time getting ready for the party. I also pray Avery surgery goes well.
Surgery is Tuesday, party Sunday, God willing. I could enjoy cooking in her kitchen as well, has plenty counterspace to work on. Thanks Christine
Oh Toogie, so sorry to hear this, my daughter has not been well either something similar as yours. She has been doing pickles, and peaches and G/ daughter doing all that as well as Blueberry jam. Son n law's gardens are really thriving, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, okra, squash everything is coming in at one time. I do not can or freeze anymore, I've done my share through the years so let them do it now and I sit back and enjoy the bounty. I love fig preserves. Hope you are well and fit soon/Lillian
I love all the vegetable you named, especially okra and tomatoes. We don't have a garden, but luckily we have friends and family that have surplus and remember us!
Wow! Those pickles look delish and sure wish we had some of those figs!! So sorry to hear that you are under the weather. I was out shopping with a friend last week and picked up a bug ( or perhaps it was the heat ) and have been feeling much the same. Rain and thunderstorms the rest of the week so we won't have to deal with that heat for awhile.
Hugs, Nadyne
The rain will make steam, its been so hot. It's dusty here. We are getting another neighbor and they are doing dirt work for the foundation for their house, so wind blows dust my way. I wish you were near, you could have had these figs and more!
Your canning looks wonderful. Just get better soon. Hugs Sarah
A lot of work and a lovely supply! I hope you'll soon feel much much better!!
I have been making jam and bottled fruit sauce - strawberries, gooseberries, red and black currants from the garden. Slugs and snails were feasting on the cucumbers and only one plant survived to bear fruit, so not much luck there.
It is so disappointing when insects ruin our crops. Your jams and fruit sause sounds great.
a lot of work toogie but worth it for sure. Hope you feel better soon
Your pickles and figs look great. Beautiful kitchen. Praying the dizziness and nausea goes away soon. Give yourself permission to rest and take it easy. Hugs, Joyce
You have been busy. Love the kitchen, beautiful. Hope you are feeling better.
WOWWWWWWWWWW Girly you been busy ,i used to do all this to .But now it is just John and me i don't do much but pickled beets.Love all homemade stuff Hugs Carolyn
My Goodness...what a lot of work...and when you are not feeling well to boot...hope you are back in the "pink" soon...that vertigo is a killer...take care of yourself!
Toogie, I'm sorry to hear that you have been ill.... I've been missing you! I hope you are feeling better soon. I can't believe how much work that you have done in the kitchen even while not at your best. You are in my prayers. --Sharon
Your daughter has an amazing kitchen but, she her mother is the most amazing of all! Noticed your absence and I am sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well. Hope you will be back to your sweet, happy self very soon. Love all of the canning. I recently canned (jarred, lol- I agree with Spendlove's comment- why is it called canning when we are using jars!) homemade salsa using tomatoes from the garden. The heat in GA has wrecked havoc on the garden so the tomatoes aren't the best looking. Sure wish that I had a neighbor offering figs! Praying that you will be back doing all the things you love very soon! You ARE amazing!
Oh Nancy, you're so sweet. Our friend that gave the cucumbers gave us the prettiest tomatoes, but we ate them freshly sliced with our meals. Delicious!
My heart goes out to you. It seems like a lot of us who suffer from vertigo are having issues lately. And your attack seems to be absolutely awful! Kudos to you for being able to can all those cukes and figs while staggering around the kitchen. Your daughter's kitchen is gorgeous. It must be wonderful to be able to have Avery with her while she cooks. Take your time catching up. I know how difficult it is to scroll. As long as we know you are trying to recover, we are understand. My prayers are going up for you. Hang in there, take your medicine and rest when you can.
Wonderful gift of fig from the neighbor. You will enjoy all this during the winter months. I can also. Hope you feel better soon! Suzanne
Suzanne, most of this goes to the kids and grandson who is married. My hubby doesn't eat figs! Can you believe? Thanks, I'm trying to get better, if there is such a thing, to try.-lol
Hello, wonderwoman! You must a dervish when you aren't sick!
Ah, to have a kitchen that large to work in when I was younger. I don't entertain much anymore, so it's not an issue, but your daughter's is wonderful. I love the flooring.
The flooring is all bricks except in the bedrooms, it is hardwood, best I can remember. I would love to work in this kitchen. One day I want to measure the island and show you all the drawers!!!
I do hope that you will soon be feeling much better, and able to sew again. Look forward to seeing your many projects, always sewn beautifully. GET WELL SOON. Sandra.
Wow! Toogie I'd love to see what you do when you aren't sick! You are one amazing lady. Love the kitchen, by the way. Get well soon. Love Chris
well you did a great job, and have quite a stock ready now. Hope you feel a lot better very soon. hugs, Gerry
Am amazing collection, Toogie, although I still don't understand why it is called canning when you use jars!
Hope you are completely recovered very soon.
I recently jarred salsa using tomatoes, etc. from my garden, lol. I too don't understand using the term canning when we are clearly using jars! But either way, canning or jarring it is worth the effort and so much healthier too!
Here in England we call it "preserving". I make jams, jellies and pickles, but it is a bit early in the year for that yet.
Depending on your location, it is funny how the act is called so many different words, but in the end, we're all doing the same thing .
