Tater bags have been posted a lot lately. I just need to share my photos with you.

I used to make and sell these at the craft shows. I used cotton material, cotton thread, Warm & Natural ( before they came out with the new tater batting). I also have embroidery on this one. I don't know if it was the batting or the embroidery thread that started the fire, but I no longer make them. I'm just saying, PLEASE be careful with these.

I think this is one reason that the Tater batting was created. There were many crafters making them and many fires too. I was told the regular Warm and Natural is not 100% cotton -- even if it says cotton batting, it may have other materials. I am so glad your pictures were not of an entire kitchen!

I think the photo says 2008. I know it was before they started making the special batting. I'm sure the new batting is better. I just wanted to let everyone know how important it is to use all cotton materials, and I don't know about the embroidery thread. I use rayon thread, and I know I have melted that with my iron.

That must have been so scary! I have heard they have had fires even with the new batting. They poked holes in the bating to prevent fire. Not sure why that helps, it was what I had heard.

Now that you mention this, my bag is not "closed" in any way. It is stitched on two adjacent sides of a large square and the rest is "open" perhaps that is a reason mine have not had the issues.
