Campanula.

Another addition to my springflowers (and to my notebook covers). It stitches in 7 minutes.
I used cotton embroidery thread (DMC and Anchor) from the early 70s when I did a lot of freehand machine embroidery. It has a nice mat shine and makes it look like handembroidery.

Like your other cross-stitch designs it is simply beautiful :o)

It really looks more handsewn with the cotton thread. I have use some 30 weight cotton, called Cotty, it was originally used for the redwork style designs years ago when I was in that "stage" but I have used it for some cross stitch also. I only have a few colors as it is not as easily available. I have used some "thin" cotton embroidery thread from Coats, it worked nicely but again not available in many color choices.
So many of the fabric shops are closing it is not easy to locate these supplies, have to go online and pay a lot more.

That's my problem too: only a few colours from before the ark and no way to buy new ones in the shops - they all sell rayon and polyester (and quite often one or the other and not both).

The thread is a nice choice. It fills the crosses better than the embroidery thread does.

It is embroidery thread, 60w, so even thinner than my usual 40w Madeira, but the cotton
has a matter finish, although the darkest of the 3 blues has more shine to it than the others.

If we can't have a beautiful garden outside, we can always make one for ourselves inside.
Beautiful work -- again! I love your indoor garden!

Beautiful! I think I've looked at each x. I'll be back to look again. I think about my old stash of xstitch supplies and wonder what to do. I do still like the feel of needle and thread in my hand. Thanks again for sharing what you do.

I've started hand embroidery again as I too like the feel of linen and thread. And I've been knitting and crocheting - can do that without looking too much at what I'm doing. But it's great fun to design these flowers - and I can use the jpg as chart for hand embroider should I feel like it.

Another lovely design. I'm hoping to find some nice cotton thread at the Sewing For Pleasure show next week.

Thanks. I hope you'll find nice cotton thread there, it is very hard to find some here, it's all polyester and rayon nowadays.

It's beautiful. You are creating quite a lovely collection. Can't wait to see what you design next. Do you get your inspiration from your own gardens?

More from the bareness of the garden - so I search my spring photos to comfort myself :)
