They are both great and I like the first one best. My grandma had done some like this that I remember.
Very pretty....but I too favor the second one....one day I hope to try this!
I also love the second one as the cotton suits it so well. There must be thousands and thousands of stitches........
Wow Michelle , thats so very beautiful and nice. I love it.
I see what you mean, the second one has more of a handmade look but both are very nice you will be able to show them with pride to your family..hope the reunion is a success
Michelle, they are lovely, I turely love the second one I eyed it off when it was on sale. You will have to show us your table setting when the time comes ok...love Kerry
Thank you Kerry
I will show you how everything turns out in the end, I still have many decisions to make for the decor.
hugs

I especially like the one you have made with cotton. It has more depth and more of a vintage look which I think suits doiles.
Both are very pretty Michelle!
Today Stitch Deight has one on the dollar page that is 16 inches across.

It is a Fillet Crochet doily but really nice.
Would look great in the cotton thread or embroidery thread.

Thank you
I saw that one as well but so many stitches to do, I will give it a try for myself though
They are both beautiful, but I also prefer the thicker one, it has more depth to it and looks really strong. I hope you get them all made for the reunion. They will be a talking piece amongst the families. Love and blessings Chris
Thank you Chris,
I agree, the second one looks more like what my grandma
made years ago.
I bought this one from Stitch Delight...it is two pieces that form one large motif...finished it should be about 24" in diameter...Sweet! Looks like I bought at the right time...I paid $1.00! Now it is showing $16.00! Sweeter! Can't wait to make it.
Thank you
This one is very pretty and I did purchase it a while back, will try it for myself (one of these days)
I love them both but second just has the extra going for it.
yes second one is great but i like both as i am a doily person hugs
These are two of my favorite doily designs - I prefer the 1st I like the daintiness of it & it is larger - the 2nd is heavier, but stitches lovely.
I agree with Susan the second just looks denser they are sew pretty! I can imagine the fun you will all have! hugs loralye
They both turned out lovely! Isn't there a special name for the style of the first one? I just can't think of it now. Maybe "battenburg" or "bobbin lace?"
Thank you Penny
I don't know about a name, I think battenburg is somewhat
of a looser stitch though
Wow these have turned out just perfect. well done.
huds Pam.
Forgot to ask, does anyone have any doily designs to suggest that are just a little larger, say 5 x 7.
thanks
