Thankyou so much, Helen. The lacy stitch reminds me of the Christmas Stockings we used to get from a visit to Father Christmas in the Magic Cave in John Martins, Adelaide. The stockings were made of red net, and later from something like the onion bag netting. I had to wait for the whole tram ride home, right to the terminus for me, to open and savour the gorgeous tiny floral cashew lollies and play with the little pressed tin plate, blow the little trumpet and open the packet of crayons, read the comic and put on the face mask..... such a wonderful memory. Even during the war I can't remember not having that once-a-year treat.
