2012 Bookmark for Graduates. ITH design for the 4x4 hoop makes two bookmarks, one after another, so you can make them in two colors, or as needed. Tested and stitches great.

It is like an in the hoop applique. IF you want to put the grad's name on the back, prepare that before you start the front.

Hoop Vilene - one layer only.

The first color is placement

Second tacks down the first piece of background felt. Third, it stitches the negative colors to make the 2012 image and

Fourth outlines,

Fifth then it stitches another outline.

Take it off the machine and place the bottom felt on it now - use a tiny bit of tape or baste it. (If you want to add a ribbon you put it in between the layers now. Tape it into place with just a tiny piece of tape.) if you want the grad's name, this is when to place it there. When you put it back on the machine it will stitch a tack down so now you can take it off again to trim it, front and back as close as you can to the stitching.

Put it back on and it will stitch a narrow zig zag, followed by the final satin stitch zig zag around the edge.

Take it out of the hoop and trim very close to the edge. Use hot water to melt away the remaining Vilene.
