Notebook covers.

I was asked for a number of items for a raffle. Made these covers for A6 notebooks. They are both made from a strip of velour (got that when I shortened my daughters curtains); the one one the left is free hand embroidery over the leaf of a deconstructed silk flower; the one on the right machine embroidery. I think the €0.49 booklets look a bit more expensive now.

Thank you. Just a more or less steady hand and an idea of what you want to achieve.

I do love finding different uses for 'useful' things we find around the place. I really like them both. The freemotion looks great and adds another dimension.

Thank you. I have too many 'useful' things as it is and find it hard to through them away. My children keep telling me they'll place a container in frnt of te house when I die and dumped the whole lot. So I'd better use up as much as I can.

VERY, VERY NICE. This is the reason I have so many scrap pieces of fabric, I don't throw them out cause you can always use them. None sewers don't understand, lol.

They don't take very long. I always use a piece of tear-away stabilizer that I fold around the book (or notebook in this case) to get a fitting pattern. You can make sharp folds, draw diagonals to get the middle of the front and write comments on it. Having done that you can set up a production line.

Having done that you can set up a production line and they'll all fit perfectly.

kativillien by kativillien 22 Feb 2012

great job! how did you attach them to the notebook?

mops by mops 23 Feb 2012

Easy. I cut the fabric large enough to have two flaps, fold them over so the cover has the right size and stitch them along the top and bottom, turn them right side out and shove the book or notebook into it.
