I have finished one quilt - whew! I had such a great time doing it. I was going to make it with just blues and greens and didn't have enough of those so I added pinks - lots of pinks. Then, I think it ended up a wee bit too long. Maybe this can go for one of the taller kids. It is just the two layers and the back looks like the front. It's the rag quilt. I used 9 inch squares, and I probably should have used just 7 or 8 inches, or not so many across and down. I digitized a heart applique and a cross applique I'm post on DbC if anyone wants to use them. I included Meg's elephant too!

Did you put a border on yours? I just finished mine and its being washed. I used 8 in squares and 3 layers and added a narrow border because it just didn't seem like it would hold together long term without a border.

I didn't do a border.I did put a decorative scalloped zig zag stitch. I think little fingers will like to feel the fringe. I think a narrow border would be very nice. I sure hope this will hold together.... Just wait till you get yours out of the dryer!!!

I'm answering here so I have more space for the answer. This is the rag quilt like in the demo on uTube you can find by searching "Rag Quilt Project Beverly's How-To" For some reason the URL never works. The only thing I did differently was at the end, I used a decorative scallop zigzag stitch. You can do any quilt design with a rag quilt. They are easy, fast and fun! I also used just cotton and not flannel. I put the designs on the squares before any stitching. You do all the clipping at the end, and then toss it in the washer and dryer! I'm glad you like it :-) Thanks

This looks fantastic Jan. How did you get the pretty edge on the joins? I can't work out if you have pinked them or used something else? Can you direct me to the link of where this rag quilt? Love Chris

Hi Michelle, We have about 56 promised as of today! Many people have said if we need more they will do another. I'm still finding new quilters! I may spend all of April at my sewing machine :-) God will provide :-)

Even though it is just the two layers, it has that great cotton quilt feel to it! It's cuddly. Somebody is going to love it forever!
