my latest quillow useing the stained glass design from Gail Lawther set called the land of the long white cloud. the winter scene quilt that i finished last week is all nicely folded into its own cushion now

It was fun doing this and learning a new way of creating something different. Hopefully that out of print book will be arriving next week and i can have a bit more fun.
I am dippping my toes into free motion embroidery and the special spring loaded foot should be here by mid week. I wonder what else i will get up to on these long dark nights. annie in the uk

You will have to have a go at dying your own fabrics to get what you want

these are some of the batic cottons i purchased last week fom the Malvern quilt show. some have tiny gold shiney bits in them and the one dark purple piece had a dark shade that looked just like a large eagle flying so i used that section to give it a bit of interest even though it ment cutting out the center of the fat quarter. just wait till that book arrives. but my next project is a cover form my E reader useing paper piecing.
just got to keep these hands moveing or they will seize up, annie

oh ofrgot to say that i use organza over some of the sections like the weater and some of the mountains to get the effect of the sun hitting the snow. i tried my hand at free motion to get the effect of ripples on water.

It is very effective - I really like batik as well.
