This is my take, (with many thanks for the idea), on Ddoersch's Curling Iron Caddy. My design is slightly different, being from Emblibrary Dollar Designs. I reversed the design, rotated it, removed parts of the rod to make it look more like a straightener and digitised the text from a TT font. The material is a basic Lawn, I lined it with heat resistant silver material cutoff from an ironing board cover and it is padded with foam. I've never done any quilting like this before so i found this challenge rewarding. Thanks for peeking. Meganne

Meganne, what a wonderful job you did! I think yours and ddoersch's iron caddy projects are great!
I first found the design and just purchased the silver heat resistant fabric...thats as far as I've gotten. I'm working on fsl and need the iron caddy done by Mid-May. Very nice...A flower for U!

I'm sure you will love doing it, it was so quick to do once i got stuck into it and it allowed so much artistic licence. I actually did small embellishments with Silver Metalic thread, the screw on the scissors & the power plug pins and screw on the straightener, it was fun. rose 4 U, M

If my daughter sees this, I'm in trouble. Glad you posted your source. My beautician will love this design, along with all the Elvis ones.

P.S.--How did you get the quilting stitches removed under and around your design.

meganne by meganne 10 Apr 2008

Aaaah, that was the tricky part, I stitched from the edge up to the design then had to re-align the second half from the design back to the opposite side, not the easiest (or the neatest) way i guess but i didn't want to embroider through the foam and lining as i worried about the foam falling to pieces. I'm doing a second one for my curling iron and hopefully will improve on that. :-) thanks & a rose, Meganne

It is nice to see projects that we never thougt to make them before. It just the idea that we see and then we try to make it ourselves. That is wonderful and we learn a lot from eachother. ***
