Here is an apron I was asked to make for a friend's grand daughter. It is made from a kitchen towel cut & sewn to apron shape. It has an adjustable ribbon tie that will "grow" with her for several years. Hope she likes it...

Thanks for the idea I was just thinking about making my GD an apron and was wondering how to make it grow with her. Where did you get the pattern or did is it your own pattern?

It is my own. I just looked at one of my old aprons to estimate how wide to make the middle bib measurement (across). then I just

Then I just folded and pressed the sides inward on an angle to create the slanted bib sides. Added the amount I needed to make a casing for the tie ribbon, cutoff any extra fabric and sew the casing in place. Slip the ribbon through from one bottom side up around the neck and down through the other side. Done!

Thanks for sharing you pic and the instructions. This is precious. While out shopping I found a child's size dough rolling pin like the old ones my mother used. I think I will make a pocket for her to put it in on the apron. Wish me luck. Thanks again Sara

Sara - I hope you share a photo of your creation with us. Good Luck, although I think you will do a wonderful job anyway. It is easy to make. If I can do it, anyone can!!

Thanks. The towel in the photo started out at 20x28 inches.

You can also add a pocket , by turning up the bottom hem however much you like towards the front and stitching it in place.

Thanks Martine. I have been using towels for aprons for awhile now. They are a good size for children and "vertically challenged" adults(like me). The ribbon slides through the casings so it can be adjusted as the child grows. Thanks for you comments. Happy Holidays!
