I hope this project inspires some of you to use your imaginations, be creative and think outside the box. Play around with your designs have fun and do not be afraid to try new ways of doing things. I have always known my oldest grand daughter loves the color pink. I did not know that her favorite animal is the Flamingo (makes sense). I combined 2 of my favorite types of embroidery together to make this design, fringe and mylar. The fringe Flamingo is from emblibrary. I found a frame design in my files large enough for the Flamingo to go on top (not sure where it came from) it has an almost stippled look in it so I thought I would use mylar under the stippling. I think it turned out rather cute. Knowing that hindsight is 20/20 the only thing I would've done differently is lay a solid fabric on top of the shirt so the polka dots did not show through.

tell her I like flamingos ,too. i have played around with the Mylar some but I have never done a fringe design. I think i am afraid i will cut the wrong thread. Looks great

I shall tell her, doing fringe is easy peazy. All you have to cut is the bobbin thread of the satin stitches.

I think the dots behind the mylar look good. Softer than another fabric.

Sadie, this is a great technique of using different designs and idea's to create a one-of-a-kind outfit for your special GD. I like the effect of the polka-dots with the mylar over them - but putting the other fabric would have changed it one more degree and it might have been nice, as well. Great work thinking outside of the box.

mylar is an iridescent plastic film that is mostly used for gift bags
there are a lot of mylar designs being digitized lately
