The Blue Star Flag:

Back when soldiers were going to serve our country in WWII, a group of mothers hung these special flags in their windows. If they had one son, or loved one, serving, they had one blue star. For every son who was serving, the flag had a blue star for each one. If the flag had a gold star, that meant that the son had given his life for our country. Many mothers who have children serving today, also hang a Blue Star Flag in their windows.

The group of mothers who started this tradition, were called the Blue Star Mothers, and they are still an active organization today.

Enjoy and please share with families of soldiers today! Jan

May God Bless all our Soldiers who are fighting for our freedom.

Thank you for this design. I lost a fiance in Vietnam, then a husband. My daughter's last assignment before she retired was in Afghanistan.I will make several for my neighbors who have sons in Iraq. thanks again.

Thanx so much! I didn't know anything about this, and I think it is wonderful. I have a GS in AF, just started first Duty Station in Washington State. I'm sure his mother would love one in her window. Hugs, Judy

Thanks, My son has been in the Army for about 13 years and I have had a Blue Star Mom Flag in my window sence his first tour in Baghdad back in 2002-2003. Our local VFW gave them to all the Moms they knew who had a child serving over seas. One of my most presous possessions, but sure don't want to change it for the Gold one.

Again thanks for the design and a *4U
