I made this quilt for my dear friend Cathy who is dying of cancer. This is her 4th time caner has been found in her body. The doc. told her that this was the one that would take her life. The woman in the center is our woman's group that gathers together twice a year. In the fall we go to a cabin for a weekend of sharing our joys and sorrows. This is the greatest group of friends. The colors are the theme of fall. The candles are the centering of our gatherings. We are writing our thought on the quilt and know that this is how we can comfort her at this time. Tears ran down my face as I sewed and quilted. This was my first major quilt job and it isn't perfect, but it was made with love. Can you find my picture?

So sorry that you and your friend are going through this, cancer is very unfair. Your quilt shows your love. I couldn't find your pic since I can't enlarge the quilt but I know she will treasure it during the time she has left and she knows how much you care. One day at a time.

What a sweet way of showing you care. You did a fantastic job. What is the name of the quilt? What a great idea to write or journal in the middle of the squares. Just lovely...

Thank you so much. I don't know if the quilt has a name I did not follow and pattern. I just figured it out in my head. There probably is someone that knows what it is called. Other wise I might have to give it a name.

Cindy, it doesn't matter what the actual pattern is, you can still name the quilt what you want. Maybe Seasons of ? (your friends name), or Seasons of Life, Seasons of Love... You name it what you feel it deserves. Definitely a labor of Love...Terre

This is a very nice PQ to give comfort to your friend. I belong to a PQ where we make free lap quilts for anyone that is in need of prayers. The church group then takes it to the members of the church and they make a prayer for every tie that is tied. I am blessed too with giving one to my niece (35) who is now stage 5 and calls it her wubby. It gives comfort. So, I know what this means to you and your friends. Prayers for the both of you.

You are truly a friend to treasure!
I believe that with friends like you we can face anything and achieve anything.
Keep doing what you are doing for your friend as she needs your friendship. I will keep her (and you)in my prayers.

Thank you fleabag, that is a funny handle!
I have found that making this quilt was the way I could handle my emotions and not fall to pieces to loose Cathy, even though I know that she will be returning to her maker and be in a better place.
