It's my daughter's father-in-law's birthday on Sunday and she asked me to make something for Erin to give to him, so this is what I came up with: he is a very patriotic Welshman so I think he'll like it! I'm pleased with the way it's stitched out, I digitised it so that it is very dense because I didn't want any of the towelling loops to show through (it's a very thick pile towel) and it seems to have worked! Love from Dianne x x x

This is such a clever idea; to write "Erin's Grandad". What grandpa wouldn't love that?

Just in case the loops do show thru- do what my mom did with hers.... she took a felt tip pen the same color as the thread, and proceeded to paint the loops that poked thru!!! It worked!!

I do all my own designs (draw them all first) and digitising - my machine has an odd-sized hoop so it's the easiest way in the long run!

Ddiolch. (Not familiar with 'Dacu' though - my late father, my husband and all my in-laws as well as my daughter's in-laws are/were all Welsh speaking so I've picked up a fair bit over the years, but as for myself, I'm a Yorkshirewoman!) Love and flowers from Dianne x x x

Dacu - grandfather as is Taid too, Mamgu or Nain is grandmother.

That's what I thought. When my husband's parents were alive, his mother was was Mamgu, her sister was Nanw and father was Granpy (he was the only one who didn't speak Welsh!)
