This design is from Embroidery Library...it had a total of 17269 stitches. What a learning process this was, I feel like I could write a book (a very funny book!) about it! 3 color changes - it should have been very easy...but, I have a way of making something that should be easy into something very difficult! First of all, I'm not so good at reading directions all the way through before beginning something - I should have...Secondly, I dutifully filled three bobbins (one white, one red, one blue) but in my excitement after the white finished stitching out I forgot to change the red bobbin (ok, so, the red would be a lot redder if I had!!)...I felt so stupid...that I didn't forget to change to a blue bobbin when it was time... Oh, and this really was my second try because I didn't realize I needed to use a new size 11 needle...I am not going to let you see the first try....hahaha!

Laura, this turned out great, well done *4u
- I think we all learn from our mistakes and from each other.
You could put a ribbin on it and your son could use it as a book mark.

Laura, what a surprise to see this - you did great - no worries on what you did - just that you did it - I love it - this is one of my favorite designs, too. Emblibrary even had this is their projects - along with the other patriotic designs - last year. I do hope that you will do more - soon - I love it. *4U

I just bought the design with their July 4th sale. I knew I would surpise you by doing it - I certainly made it a lot harder than should have been!!! Thank you for your inspiration!!!*

Oh really - with each time we do FSL - we learn something new - so continue to do it and you will be stitching up a storm of FSL and you will love it.

It is lovely, if it makes you feel any better, my first FSL was a bookmark with 5 colour changes, I only changed the top thread, didn't know I had to do the bottom too. Now the bookmark is part of my "First Timers" collection. These are my most valuable creations, valuable because I'll never get them like that again, hehehe!

It looks great as it is. Just keep the right side up :-). Funny how you can muddle up and forget changing bobbins. Last week I had done something on a dark grey background and used black bobbin thread. Knowing I had a busy week, I took out the bobbin and put it in front of my machine. Next day I squeazed in an embroidery on a white towel, noticed the bobbin case in front of my machine, brushed out fluff and put the bobbin back in - then half way through I remembered why I had taken it out ... nice black design at the back.. :-(
