This is a project I made in our embroidery club.

It has cute little compartments for storing things I need
when I go to a club meeting.

This same thing could also be made for toiletries, cosmetics, etc when traveling- just hang up with the loop.

I want to make others with larger pockets.
I need one for all the different scissors that I am "collecting"

This is a great idea I wish I had the pattern so I could make it too. You could use this anywhere even to keep things together in the sewing room, you could hang it on the wall near the machines. These are the little things that get lost in the room. Thanks for sharing, I love it. I have the clear plastic, just need the rest of it. lol. I think I love the needles altogether as well. Sandra H. This is made from a placemat.
One the outside "side" you put the design/monogram.
BE careful of the placement as it is placed in the lower left hand corner of the placement.

You cut several "strips" of heayweight vinyl and you stitch double fold bias tape (contrasting color to match placemat).
Then you sitch the outside ends onto the inside of the placemat. You can make the strips as wide or as narrow as you want. Just measure the size of what you want to put in the pockets. Then you stitch down just the vinyl portion of each strip to form the pockets. If you have something you don't want to fall out of the pocket, then you can use the velcro dots to hold the pockets shut.

Make the hanging loop/tie with the left over bias tape, just stitch down the open edge. Make a little loop and stitch on the placemat - then you can roll it up from the bottom and tie it. Stitch the loop on the outside of the placemat.

Hope you can follow this instructions - it really is a quick and fun/useful project.

Thank you very much for the instructions, I am greatful for them and yes after reading over a few times I have got the picture on what to do. I have also made a copy for future reference. It has led me to look around my sewingroom and see what other ways and things that I can make to tidy up and make more space. Thank you for your inspirations, you've got me going again.

Looks like you used a clear vinyl....can you tell me how you stitched that? I have tried stitching vinyl to fabric and a zipper edge and it did not stitch evenly. Very frustrating. Tips would be appreciated.
TIA! Joyce

There is a special "foot" for Brother/Baby Lock machines, sorta like a roller foot.

Eugenia, this is great - it sure beats always trying to get things together at the last minute, huh?

Oh my, you sure need a lot of stuff at your club meetings. It's a really cool organizer. Is there a pattern you could share? I'd love to make one as a gift for my MIL. She lugs all her stuff around in a cardboard box. BTW don't you love that mechanical chalk marker? I just got one and it's my new best friend.
