I still love using placemats for purses...just wanted a little bigger purse, so I thought..."why not use two"? I cut a smidge off the length of this placemat and then fashioned the front pockets...actually, the whole front is one big pocket. I love the little owl from Sewing with Sarah....it stitches out beautiful and is very VERY quick! I've set up a Smilebox slideshow with my three most recent purse projects...enjoy the show!

Kim, this is adorable - I love how your used buttons for the eye and I also read what you posted to Kathy about the lining - that is wonderful. Great job on all.

You would like this design, Shirlene. I've actually stitched out the owl in felt (on another try) ...but skipped the applique stitching (didn't think it was needed on the felt, plus it just looked "cool"). Without the applique stitch...and not stitching the eyes (adding buttons again), it REALLY stitched quick and looks so cute! When I do something with that piece, I will post it so you can see what I'm trying to explain. Doing it this way would be sooo cute on a sweatshirt, as it would give the "fraying" effect around the edges of the owl. You know me...I love owls anyway, so this design will be used often!

Thank you - I can't wait to see it - you do make alot of projects and I would love to sit with you and learn from you - it sounds easy when you talk about it, but I know it is not. Hehehe!

Hi Kathy! Did you get your soap yet?? If not, I bet today or tomorrow...I sent out 4 bars!! I appliqued the owl...then just started cutting! I never really have any patterns for my bags...as I love to create them as I go! The lining of the bags come over the top...a piece is then sewed around the raw edges of the lining, (after you have tucked your straps in there!). It give a seamless look to the inside of the bag! I bet you could figure this out...give one a whirl...any questions, you have my email!!
