Here is an I Spy toy I made for our church fund raiser. You can use most applique designs. You simply cut out the fabric in the hoop instead of tacking a piece of fabric down.

It is a game. The child has to locate all the items in the pouch as seen on the laminated card. They can play by themselves, or they can time one another to see who can do it the fastest. The fleece and the pellets just feel really neat, too.

Very nice idea, well done! I've seen similar work in umbrellas for kids in Japan, so they can see where they going to through the 'plastic window'.

very cute idea. What do you do to keep the "pellets" inside the cut out shape? Where do you get your I-spy trinkets?

Although it is not too easily seen in the picture, there is a section of vinyl behind the umbrella all done on the wrong side of the fabric. I've gotten some of my trinkets from e-bay as buttons. Oriental Trading Company has small erasers that work great. I've gone to thrift stores to find game pieces that work. I just found an old game of Risk for .75 that had all the little military pieces for a boy.
