Now don't these look good enough to eat? I thought that this was so cute, and then decided to make some for my granddaughters to sell for a soccer fundraiser. These are pincushions, and the design is from Zippy DesignZ. These are easy to do, but it takes me longer to stuff them than to stitch them out. They are stitched on felt, and I have a couple different way to decorate them right now. These are just stitched using the sparkle felt. Some of the others will have seed beads stitched to them to look like sprinkles.

Zippy Designz has several different type of cupcake designs. Give them a try.

Ypur pincushion cupcakes are adorable. We rescued a puppy this year and named her Cupcake. My daughter and I have been searching for a cupcake ornament for our Christmas tree, All of our pets for the last 36 years are represented on our tree. From goldfish won at the church carnival to all the cats and dogs, birds and squarrels named Rooroo. I might have to make one of these...:-)****4U

I started to comment on these the other day and DH came in, spotted them and said: "Why can't you make cakes like that? You haven't baked anything for ages!"
Well, i cracked up, but I couldn't say too much because, when i spotted them, i too thought they were real. ROFLMBO!!! SURE FOOLED ME!!!
These are just awesome and something I would truly love to make for grand daughter's play parties.
Mind you, I've never even heard of sparkle felt, so I guess I will need to do some researching first.
Fantastic job! hugs n roses, M

meganne, sparklet felt is at Joanne Fabrics if you have one of those near you.

OK - I had to laugh at this one. I had a friend come in and saw them and told me she was hungry. What a surprise when she picked one up. But she is a character, and i had to expect something like that from her.

No, not really - stitches out really quickly. It just takes longer to put the filling into them. This was a fun project, and hope I do not get burned out before I get them all done.

these are great!!
what are the liners made of??

dlonnahawkins by dlonnahawkins 13 Nov 2008

The little cupcake liner is from the Wilton silicon baking shells. It has 1/2 of a Styrofoam ball, and then the two design halves stuffed and glued. The cherry on top is actually from a Christmas stick that I cut apart.
