My grandmother died when I was only four years old. I remember her as a very short woman of Irish decent. My mother gave me the doily that was made by Gramma, and I have had it framed and in my home for years. It is done with variegated thread. Do any of you know of a site that might possibly have the design. I would love to do with like hers.

Thank you - I have printed out the instructions, but do not like to do this by hand. I think that I am going to see if some site has it. Thanks so much for you assistance.

I have a few made by my great grandmother. I would venture to guess they are at least 75 yrs old. I have some hand embroidered hankies too because back then ladies carried hankies. * Thanks for the memories

I agree with lbrow that she could have made it up. I also have one of my grandmothers framed that she made during World War II. Hers was in bold bright colors. She made up a lot of her patterns too. I have an OLD embroidery book that was my great grandmothers and I will look in there for you. I think I understand what pattern you are looking for.

I don't remember seeing this before dlonna, but do U realize she could have made it up. My folks use to make up a lot of theirs. Me I had to have a pattern. I will look when I have time. It's kind of hard to see exactly how the middle looks since it isn't stretched out. I have a ton of books but I'll look 4 you. give me a week or so cause that fair starts tomorrow & I'm kind of tied up right now, *

Good luck at the fair. Thi really looks like a windmill, or one of those little things that you hold and blow on - what are they called?
