Your suggestions needed on what to do with these FSL designs? I thought of putting them around a lamp stand but then someone said they might burn being so close to the light bulb. That disappointed me as I was keen to do that. What can Cuties suggest?

They are from CD creative embroidery. I have 4 different patterns and one plain. They are approx. 5 x 7 inches. http://www.cd-creativedesign.com/ FSL drops

You can probably still use them on a lamp. I think you should be fine with the energy saver light bulbs, those are the ones I use and they do got warm after a couple of hours but do not really get hot. Give them a try, Good Luck *

Hi Kezza
Lamp shade is a great idea even if you do not switch a lamp.
I can see the design at the bottom of a top as a FL and repeat on the skirt or trousers side as a ordinary design.
Any how what ever you do please share with us.
Smiles and great weekend.
Thanks for sharing the link.*4U

Kezza, I love the lampshade idea with the light shining through. These FSL designs (any FSL for that matter) would also be great if stitched onto the netting of a baby cot mozzie net to liven it up.

Are you putting them around the bottom of the lamp shade? If so I would think they would be ok. If on the outside of the shade they should be ok too. I never tried that but it's a good idea to dress up an old lamp shade. Thanks for the tip

How about incorporating these into a doily to match the lamp shade? I think these might work on the outer edge of a cotton centered one. Hmmmmmmm?

This is beautiful Kezza. You simply must show them off & I think a light shining through would really be a way to do it. I like the lampshade idea with the low wattage bulbs there should b no problem. shirleners idea of some how tieing them together makes good sense. Perhaps embroidering a circle & using these 4 petals , say on a round table cloth. *4U

Lovely kezza2. I was just on Belinda's Embroidery: http://www.belindasstudio.com/fab...
She shows pictures of using similar designs to "make" lamp shades. Take a look. But that doesn't mean they might not get hot. But I would use a small watt lightbulb.

This is lovely Kezza2sew. I would like to see a number of these hanging at different lengths from the top of the window frame, maybe hanging from a piece of bamboo or the like.

that was another thought also I had, like hanging from the bottom of a curtain, but up high not at the bottom part of the window, you will see it more up the top, does that make sense? Like an overlay of curtain material at the top of the window..

Yes Kezza2sew, I thought it would look like a pelmet and the light showing through would show off the designs nicely. You could, of course, actually sew them along the bottom of a fabric pelmet across the top of the window rather than use a cane. Good luck with whatever you eventually decide on.

I think if the lampshade is big enough, it goes. In, otherwise, is a wonderful design. Gr Hilde

If you sew them to the bottom of a lamp shade they should be OK. Anyway, these new light bulbs that everyone is suppose to use to conserve electricity don't get very hot. It looks terrific, Kerry. Ricky

Its lovely and if you use a low wattage bulb it should be ok failing that is there a way of joining them up to make a table center

This is very beautiful, Kerry. I agree that it shouldn't burn on a lampshade if it is away from the bulb. It will look stunning with these all round! *4U

Thanks shirley, I just measured the frame and it will acutally be 7 inches away so you are all making me feel more confident with my original idea...

How lovely! Could you perhaps use them to decorate a plain white lampshade, then the licght could show through? Like Shirlene said, I don't think they would burn unless they were actually touching the bulb. Love and a flower for you from Dianne x x x

I hope you are both right as I really see them on a lamp shade I want to decorate. It has a lovely tall brass stand. They would have to be at least 5 inches away from the bulb. Would the watt of the bulb make a difference to heat also?

Oh Kerry - this is beautiful - I would think the only way that it would burn - is if it were touching the light bulb itself - this is so beautiful and should be used - if not on the lampshade - perhaps just layng on the table or something - I love it - great work! *4U

yes I really want to use these designs and make something, thanks for lovely comments

shirlener88 by shirlener88 18 Jul 2008

You are welcome and I had been thinking about this - since I posted and I thought perhaps you could join several of them together and just make a doily of sorts out of them - what do you think?
