I have wanted to make my two daughters something that they can hang on to, and haven't managed to do it until this year. I made them each a set of pillowcases, and I used the same design, only with different colors. One daughter is a redhead, and her colors were shades of coral. The other daughter is dark-haired so I chose navy and pink. They were laundered and ironed, but folding them up for wrapping made them wrinkly, so these are the best photos I could get.

Oh these are lovely. They look vintage which I like so much. Beautiful.

They are beautiful. I love the reasons behind the colours. They will cherish them always

Thank you. I know that the ones that I have are cherished very much. As for colors, it is difficult for us redheads to find colors that are pretty on us. My younger daughter who is dark haired has that skin that looks pretty on every color. It’s hard not to be a little jealous.

Thank you. I just remember being a kid and seeing how much people valued embroidered linens. So the idea has been sitting at the back of my brain for a long time.

Lovely! My MIL was an impeccable hand embroidery expert...she embroidered a set of sheets and pillow cases as a wedding present for us...when the sheets wore out, I cut off the hand embroidery....I couldn't bear to lose it...

I hope that’s how my girls feel when I’m gone. (Although it’s machine embroidery so not really an heirloom)

Yes they are an heirloom because your time, thoughts, attention to detail, and love went into them.

You are right. I have a hard time not undervaluing what I do. I was raised to not be prideful about my work, but I think my mind has taken that too far. That would be a good goal for me—to accept praise and to be proud of myself. I wonder how other areas of my life would change if I did that.
