Saw one of these ornaments online. They were charging $24. So of course I had to give it a try. Must admit they are a bit of a challenge and rather time consuming little stinkers. This one will be a Christmas gift for my son. It is made of 34 little squares of fabric folded and pinned in place.

Thank you to all your family for serving our country and keeping us a free nation. I've done a similar one of these called a pinecone ornament where I am from and it was probably 30 years ago at least--put up with Christmas ornaments. Yours is unique and your son will always have it for a wonderful treasure.

rsehorse, great work. Where did you find the design to purchase. We are all a Navy family, but we have lots of Marine friends.

As we say, there is no such thing as a former Marine or former Sailor. It's always, not so lean, not mean, but still a Marine.
Don't know a similar one for the Navy.

I bought this fabric several years ago at either Jo-Anns or Wal-Mart. It is still available trough and is made for all 4 branches of the service.

This is truly a beautiful ornament. And, it's not just for Christmas but can be proudly displayed all year long! What loving hands folded all the fabric squares (those same hands use to hold that little boy who is now a man). So very proud of all of our men in service. Please let you son know we appreciate him! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your service young man. Beautiful ornament. He will display this proudly. You have more patience then I do, this would have driven me over the edge. Notice I didn't say which edge. :)
