Babash mentioned making the new GGB-to-be a pair of mittens to prevent sucking on their hands & I remembered babies can scratch themselves too. So I searched the web & found some information on making a pair. Although I do not have a supply of jersey as suggested I do have flannel. I thought about an old t-shirt so I went & got these 2 eyelet Tee's & thought they would be perfect mittens & so I cut them up & not only did I do mitts with the flannel on the inside ( they are really hard to make!) I made a peasant dress too. Which gave me an idea...I emailed my daughter & asked for my grandson & his girlfriends favorite old t-shirt so I can make the same with theirs. What do you think? A good idea or not? Best part about recycling these is the hem for the dress & the sleeves are already done for me.

amazing idea and great job!! how did you make the mitts? or i should say how did you determine the size of the mitts. i have a couple of friends with new babies and that would be a perfect gift.

I didn't have much luck finding a pattern on line but I remembered making a pair of ith mittens for my grand-daughter so I went off of those I used a 3 inch pc of elastic in each mitten.they are very small about 3.5 inchec wide, less with the elastic & only about 3.5 inches high. Hope that helps you some. Hugs
