About me:I have loved sewing and crafts from an early age. I started sewing in 4-H. (That seems like that was in another lifetime). I have been sewing and doing crafts on and off as time allows ever since. My sister in CO has been doing machine embroidery for over 10 years. Every couple of years when I would visit her I would enjoy watching her make something or talk about her machine. It interested me very much and was something I could see myself doing and enjoying. Well, I have to say after seeing the movie "The Bucket List" I decided to take a different approach to life and to spend money on an embroidery machine. Since I was now only working part-time I thought that I would have more time to pursue learning to embroider so in March of 2008 I bought a new Janome 9500 embroidery machine for $1000. Not as high tech. or as expensive of a machine as my sister's machine, but I thought it would be a good starter machine. Before I did very much with the machine, I spent a good month reading articles and downloading free designs, and purchasing the items that I would need to start embroidering.
I am really happy with my machine and now I have a hard time staying out of my sewing room. I am especially addicted to the FSL. Before Christmas I was having a hard time finding WSS in my area so I ordered 50 yards from a co. online. That should be plenty for awhile!
Eventually, I would like to learn how to digitize. There are so many free designs out there that sometimes I wonder why learn it. I have the Pantograms Embroidery Magic 2 and so far it has come in handy to use it to import some designs and add names to the designs and I have also changed a date in a design with good results.
By joining this site I hope to meet new friends.
UPDATE: AS OF JULY 2009, I NOW HAVE A USED JANOME 10000 UPGRADED TO THE 10001. I LOVE IT. THIS ONE IS IN COLOR AND HAS MORE FEATURES ON IT.
