About me:I usually don't fill these out because I am a pretty private person, but appearing to be the only guy on the site so far, I figured I'd let you in on a couple secrets. I am 43, will be 44 on August 29th. (So, like what's your sign I ban? Well, I am a Virgo guy. Hey, cool, thanks for sharing. No prob dude!).
I am single, never been married, no children, but mysteriously have 11 grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Haven't figured out how, but I do. I live alone with my cat Diva who I adopted from the SPCA and have never had a more dedicated and loving pal.
What do I enjoy. I could go on about long walks on the beach in the moonlight, quiet times with the ones I love and all that, but that's not what you want to hear. After all, this isn't a pick-up joint (or at least not to the best of my knowledge, if I am wrong, someone please tell me, thanks) so let's get on to the good stuff.
I love to sew. I got addicted in the obligatory 7th grade Home-Ec class when we all made an apron. I finished early, so my next project (living in Los Alamos, NM, way, way up in the mountains) was a down jacket (they were in style then) which I made with great ease to the amazement of my classmates and teachers. And have been sewing since. I haven't met a project that I haven't tackled yet. My last "sewing" project was a 1940's black pin striped Zoot Suit with red (or should I say RED!!!) bridal satin for lining. It is sooooo cool. I love it. I make a lot of my dress clothes as my taste is not the same as the taste of those in control of the fashion industry. So I create my own "style".
About 2 years ago, I got addicted to quilting. When I say addicted, I mean, really bad addicted. I was banging out quilts like there was no tomorrow. I have posted 3, but there are about 15 left to post if you are interested.
Bought a Singer CE-200 that also did machine embroidery. Played around with the embroidery unit very little. Then I started looking on the net for availability of designs and was amazed at what I saw. All the patterns out there and some of the work that others had done got me hooked. Well guess what? - NEW ADDICTION. At the end of April I purchased a Brother Duetta 4500D which as someone said does everything but cook dinner. I don't work (not by choice, I am disabled), so I have lots of time to spend on learning new things and perfecting my latest addiction which happens to be machine embroidery right now.
I also like to do needlepoint and cross-stitch (have pics to post if you are interested even though this isn't the perfect forum for that), I also enjoy crewel, crochet, knitting, floral design, home decor, gourmet cooking, good theatre (thus the nickname, and yes I do still perform and have been for 31 years), quiet time with friends, and computer stuff (and yes, I could be considered a computer nerd).
I guess that's me in a nutshell. If you'd like to know anything else, just ask.
It's truly been a pleasure since I joined this group and look forward to more good times.
Yours truly,
Eric
