The size listed on the hoop is the size of the sewing field. The exact size of the hoop is larger to allow for room all around the design for the foot to travel. For instance, a design in the 100x100 hoop (or 4x4) is 100mm or 4inches square. Hugs, Nan W
At www.chantells-creations.com there is a free download of a conversion table...Inches to CM to MM. I've found this to be invaluable for choosing what fits my hoops...and for resizing when the designs are in meters and I want inches. The table prints on one page & I practically carry it around w/me.
The sewing field of the 200x260 hoop is 200x260 mm. That of the smallest hoop that comes with the Ruby is 120 x 120 mm (splendid square hoop), that of the largest 200x360 (royal hoop). The measurements are on the hoop.
When you set the hoop you use in your Ruby you will see all the sewing field sizes (which are far smaller than the hoops themselves). My Hoops - 7.3 in the manual.
If you want only the hoops you own to be shown you can look at 3.8 - machine settings - hoop selection. When you can of course add the ones you own from your old Designer (100x100 or the 150x240) or any new ones like the metal 130x180 (approx. 5x7). The only old hoop that can't be used on the Ruby is the 150x360.
And remember the middle of the sewing field is not the middle of the hoop - the marks at the sides will point to the middle of the sewing field.
yes i now have all the hoops plus a new one still in the box for jeans called the metal hoop size a80xa30 hugs
The measurement in mm should be the exact sewing field. (In inches it is only approximate.)
here is a chart for you

It only gives the maximum hoop sizes for different machines. You'll find the others in your manual.
