Hoop tear away. Stick balsa sheet on top. Stitch. Pretty much like stitching on card.

Thanks for a different idea to try. I can't think that the needle will not break, I think it will be pretty dull after this use. You did a nice job with this project.

You are right about the needle, every tutorial I've seen recommends changing it afterwards.

The balsa is extremely soft and the needle just slides between the fibres!

Wow! That is quite a beautiful transformation. Heard of, but haven't tried, stitching on balsa wood. I feared it would split easily but obviously, you didn't have a problem at all. It looks gorgeous!

Go for it. Hoop some stabiliser, stick some balsa on the top and embroider away!
