When I do a design I get little loops on the front of the design. Some times on the back. I have tried everything that I know of to stop this from happening ( needle, tension, stabilizer, threading changing the bobbin) I am at a lost as what to do next. My machine is a Babylock Ellageo, a old one I still use floppy discs.

Does anyone from the Eastern Shore of Md. know where to get a machine fixed. Both of the places I have used in the past have closed

I don't have this machine, but it is almost always a thread problem when it happens to me. I did about 15 lap throws before Christmas (all the same fabric) and the ONLY time I had a loopy problem was when I needed a color that I only had in Coats and Clark thread. My machine has never liked C and C. Hope you can resolve this problem quickly. Very frustrating isn't it?!

Thank you for all your help. I did all but clean the floppy drive, So far nothing worked. I guess I'll have to drive 2 hours to a dealer and get it fixed.

a three hour drive for me to one that will do his best to fix straight away or within a few hours so I go shopping (food is cheaper than at home) a dealer at 2 hours drive will keep my machine for a week (or more) for a service

OH, I just noticed you use floppies. Have you cleaned your floppy reader? You can buy a cleaning floppy just for that. Thinking possibly the disk reader is dirty and causing ''blips'' in reading the design. Just a crazy idea.

Hallo, Gump. I have not had that exact problem, but I know that tension plays an important part in the looping. I hope you can work thru it. Give your machine also a little oil at the bobbin case - it might help. All the best.

I often have that problem. It got worse when a new tension mechanism was put in. You are sort of at at the mercy of how skilled the tech is. If I see it right away...like in an eighth of an inch... I stop my machine, back up a few stitches and stitch over it again and that stitches it down. If I don't see it until the design is done, I snip the threa and remove the loop on top, then use a drop of Fray Check on the back to keep it from unraveling. I'm careful with the Fray Check as if you get too much it can spead into your fabric and leave a spot.

Hi Gump, I have the same Ellageo and have had the same problem. It started after I had mine serviced and a new bobbin holder part put in. It went back when I showed the tech the looped embroidery. He fixed it some when he changed tension but it still didn't work right, About a year later, I went into my tension setting in the menu screen pictures where the counter is for total stitches made. I set that to zero and worked from there and can now stitch again but have to be careful. In the meanwhile, I was so frustrated I bought a Brother Quattro. Hooven in White Marsh in MD (from the post by Pennefold)is great. I used to take my machines up there when ever I would go to visit family. I wish you the best because mine is much better but not the great machine it once was. I personally think it is timing but my guy won't listen to me.

I think the loops mean that you need to tighten the tension. Only a slight change at a time. I watched a Bernina webinar today and the lady giving it was asked about problem with metallic thread and she answered to stop thread breakage when using metallic thread was to loosen the tension. She warned if loosened too much that you would get loops. I'm no expert but the lady giving the webinar is. Good luck. Kay

I am in TheCommonwealth-----I take my Brother 780D to All Brands Service Center in Richmond----I have used 3 other "OUTFITS" and NONE of them fixed the issues------All Brands Service Center FIXED the issues the other 3 "CERTIFIED" dealers did not/could not figure out how to fix my machine---I know you are not near Richmond---but when you find a DEPENDABLE and RELIABLE dealer: hang on to them---tell them how WONDERFUL they are---tell them how much you LOVE them---if you can find a GREAT repairperson, WONDERFUL and hang on to them. Good luck and God bless you in your search.

I would suggest using a thread stand and moving it away from the machine before taking to repair. Sometimes it is just the thread not moving smoothly in its path--can snag and grab.

I have a Brother machine, an older model, and whenever I have had loops, there was a thread tension issue. Maybe someone with this machine will come along and be more helpful, than I. I have had loops/birdnests/threadbreaks form a few times, when I used sticky stablilizer, probably from accumulation of glue on the needle from the stablilizer. Be sure any time you have loops, that the bobbin area is clean of any fuzz or pieces of thread. Be sure your machine is threading properly, by holding the pressure foot all the way up, while threading the machine. As I live in Georgia, I am not aware of shops available in your area. I would google online to try to locate embroidery machine repair shops in your vicinity. Good luck.
Hugs, Angel
