Oh my gosh that is a cool bag !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such talent !!!!
Flowers for all too . It's a long way down . LOL
I love your bag Chris :) I popped over and checked out the pattern I also intend on making one :)
Love your bag Chris! You did an awesome job on it! I have it bookmarked to try one day!
Would love to have a bag like this. Beautiful work Chris - the red combination is just perfect.
I like this bag as well, thinking of making one too :)
I like you color choices :)
Such a Masterpiece! So vibrant! Don't think you will misplace that? You did a fantastic job. Beautiful.
Chris, you don't need inspiration from me, you are a great seamstress. I am happy to see you tackle this, and it looks like you won! Great job! I made the largest size, which did you make here? You know you will have to make your girls some-lol -Toogie
Hi Toogie, thanks for the compliment. I made the larger bag, but want one even bigger. So I'll have to enlarge the pattern for Dana. Love Chris
Lovely bag but why do you need split pins ?I use split pins to assemble teddy bear joints.Have you looked for buckram at Spotlight, its usually amongst the interfacings & one or two layers might be what you need for the bags bottom.
Maybe she means to put 'feet' on her bag, that's what she is calling split pins. I'm not sure.
That's right Toogie - they are known as split pins, bag feet, large brads, bag bases, bottom studs, etc. etc. etc. I want them to poke through the bottom so the fabric doesn't get dirty. You have to put them in before you put the lining in - it's a bit fiddly, but worth the extra effort.
Thanks Judy for the information about the buckram too. Love Chris
I've seen them on bags that you buy from shops but I didn't know that you could buy them.I suppose they would be put on ,in a similar manner to magnetic clasps used to close bags.
I bought some today that have a little base that snaps on once inserted into the fabric. I've also ordered a few packets from a Queensland store, which I think are similar. Love Chris
Wow you are a clever girl. Bit to complicated looking for me. I make simple ones hehehe,, But on a serious note, i use the For Sale sign as a base. Make a sleeve and slide it in Whalla. Love your colors, But when you make me one would like a soft green floral :))))) ps love you too!!!
Ha ha ha! funny girl! It was a tad complicated, but fun! As I said Dana is pleading with me to make her one! Good idea about the sleeve over the For Sale signage! Love Chris
Nicely done and love your reds. I've always heard the metal "stops" called feet.
Thanks Grace, I have found some and have ordered them! Should arrive early next week. Love Chris
Sure can Chris. It's a marvelous job. Is this going to be my Valentine from you? Just kidding dear, but it is beautiful. You do inspire me, but I'm busy working on Christmas gifts to give this year/Lillian
Thanks Lillian, I'm working on Christmas ladies luncheon gifts already too! Love Chris
Beautiful Chris. I am amazed with the different Items you all make. I don't have the imagination.
We could call this bag "A Touch of Toogie". I don't think this will be your last one. I'm thinking of having a go at one .
You're right Bev, I'm going to make one for Dana! (our elder daughter). She starts full time teaching on the last week of January when school returns here in Australia. She has been a 3 day a week worker for the past 11 years. Someone is going on maternity leave and they are having another spot open too. It might only be for this year, we will have to wait and see. Love Chris
This is Gorgeous, Chris! Well done..you should be proud...there are plastic purse bottoms available...I have put a link for one below, but there are others...they are quite substantial and work extremely well...one of my sewing machine dealers sells them, too...so I have used them in the past...
Thanks for that information Kim. It's sad that I'd have to pay a fortune due to exchange rates and postage though! Love Chris
Excellent job Chris your all ready for Valentines Month .hugs
wow what a great Bag Chris! You did a terrific job on it. ~hugs~
Very nice Chris, and I understand that you are taking orders? :)
Seriously, it's very pretty. Toogie inspired many of us.
Thanks Jerrilyn, yes, I love lots of Toogie's projects and of course many other women on here too! Love Chris
This is lovely. You matched the materials very well. I just love it. Hugs Lynn
Wow! You should be very happy with this bag. It is obvious that you put a lot of time and attention into making it. Thanks for sharing! I am sure that you will have just as much enjoyment using it too!
Thanks Nancy, yes, I am. Dana desperately wants me to make her one in Blues, Aquas, White and Greens!!!! Love Chris
I want! Can't get any better than that. Beautiful. Great job.
Very eye catching Chris. Looks amazing.... Well done. I myself LOVE making bags! Trouble is give them all away and dont keep one for myself! Good on you xx
Thanks Jewls, (Aunty again!!!) I found this bag great fun, once I had everything in place. Still want the bases for the bottom so that the bag can sit properly and some hard plastic for inside the bag. Love Chris
If you can find template material it can be cut into any shape you want. Works great!
Wow! Love this bag, it's happy-coloured and elegant, so well made.
You are a very talented lady.
Hugs, Lidia
Well done Chris it's lovely.. my one I started last October is still in pieces, I managed to pick-up Plastic canvas sheets at Spotlight they were among the craft stuff not in bag notions.. Marian
Thanks Marian, I want to go to Spotlight tomorrow morning. I've got Ophelie and Delphi for the day, so might go there after swimming is over. I'll try and get some plastic and see if they have the bases for the bags. Love Chris
Fabulous bag. Great use of the coordinating fabrics.
wow this bag looks fantastic, well done Chris
I made this bag after seeing one of Toogies, I enjoyed it so much that I made another with different pockets to carry my Kindle and rail cards etc and a removable shoulder strap for when I'm travelling. I love your colours, I used plastic canvas for the bottom, its much cheaper than the proper stuff.
Thanks for that hint Rosa I'll look out for some of the plastic canvas. I would want one bigger than this one though, I need a big bag. Love Chris
Oooh, this is a beautiful bag Chris, much work but a great result.
Thanks so much, and yes, you are right, a lot of work! I've just posted it on FB and my daughter has requested one, but bigger! I'll have to think about it! Love Chris
I use the plastic kitchen cutting sheets or place mats for my bag bottoms. dosent matter what colour or print they are as you don't see them
Only a few $$$$ in the cheap shops
