I made it up, I have made many hats in my life so this was right out of my head. I'm sure if you google free sewing hat patterns you will find a wide variety to choose from. It's basically a tube that you cut @ the top with a plate to make it round & then it is sewn like a T with intersection @ the top, He sergered all the edges & then made a small hem @ the bottom & flipped it to make the cuff go upwards with no visible seem showing. So many young kids have no idea how to sew on a button let alone an "electric peddle machine" :) I am 100% on your side teaching the young skills they can use for a lifetime. This is a beautiful hat and I would probably display it upon my head and it was made by someone so darn good looking! I think this young man is super talented and yes, ALL the ladies want a hat now!
